Job Context:
∎ For the team of our "Support for the Climate and Development Partnership (under Climate Cluster)", we seek applications from suitable candidates for the position of "Climate Change Advisor".
∎ Contract Duration till: 31 December 2023

Job Responsibilities:
∎ The position holder is responsible for:
∎
∎ Managing an area of responsibility that forms part of the programme objectives, team agreements and/or agreements with the supervisor
∎ Assisting project/programme initiatives to provide professional advisory services to and cooperate with a broad range of target groups
∎ Advise supervisor on all task when implementing GIZ rules and regulation
∎ Advise supervisor in the field of project's planning, steering and monitoring
∎ Independently implement goals and requirements set by the supervisor
∎ Make decisions which have a short-term effect within a limited project area/ unit
∎ Assist supervisor to identify day to day problem and suggest appropriate solution
∎ In this context, the position holder fulfils the following tasks:
∎ Tasks (Specific for Job Role):

∎ The position holder:
∎ Supports the AV of the project "Support for the Climate and Development Partnership" with regard to financial planning, budgetary control, monitoring and evaluation, as well as reporting to the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) as commissioning party
∎ Supports the dialogue between BMZ, the German Embassy, GIZ, KfW, BGR and partner institutions on implementing the objectives of the climate and development partnership while taking into account the increasing linkages of bilateral and multilateral development cooperation as well as the crucial connections between the national and local level
∎ Supports the technical coordination with relevant actors in the scope of the project, in particular, the national project counterparts and international donors working in the area of climate, urban development, migration and energy
∎ Develops and maintains good networking and working relationships with all key stakeholders especially from national government bodies
∎ Support the organisation of dialogue formats between representatives from the government, civil society, science and the private sector from Bangladesh and Germany and supports the development of new project proposals resulting from the respective exchange fora
∎ Advises on the conceptual development of the Climate and Development Partnership in the field of climate and energy, in particular regarding adaptation to climate change, climate-induced migration, climate-resilient urban development, renewable energy and energy efficiency
∎ Coordinates event and knowledge management as well as communication and public relations, including writing articles, preparing presentations and publications in close collaboration with his supervisor
∎ Closely coordinates with the supervisor and the cluster management
∎ Other duties/additional tasks:
∎ The position holder:
∎ Provides support in organizational and management questions in the designated area
∎ Collaborates closely with relevant colleagues on the cluster level
∎ Supports the AV to coordinate with other relevant projects in GIZ and with other agencies active within similar fields of actions
∎ Further specific tasks may be discussed and agreed with the AV

Additional Requirements:
∎ At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in a comparable position
∎ Proven experiences in dealing with public representatives and senior officials from the government, national and international organizations as well as research institutes
∎ Working experience in international bi-lateral/multilateral organizations will be given priority
∎ Other knowledge, additional competences:
∎ Ability to work well under pressure and must be a strong team player
∎ Must have good interpersonal and communication skills
∎ Fluency in English is a must (listing, reading, writing and speaking)
∎ Knowledge of German Language is an asset
∎ Ability to work in an intercultural environment
∎ Proven experiences in the field of public relations and very good networking skills
∎ Excellent interpersonal, moderation, communication and presentation skills
∎ Solid understanding of climate change, in particular adaptation to climate change, renewable energy and energy efficiency, environmental management and sustainable urban development in the Bangladeshi context
∎ Ability to think and act strategically and analytically
∎ Independent, highly motivated staff member who is willing to learn, and is open and flexible in an international work context
