Job Context:
∎ The Danish Refugee Council (DRC), one of the world`s leading NGOs, with a focus on responding to displacement, have been registered in Bangladesh since 2013. In 2017, in response to the Rohingya influx, DRC launched an integrated program of support to the government in site management, shelter/NFI and protection. In 2018, DRC started implementing aid projects in support of the host communities most affected by the influx of refugees. As a key part of this, DRC opened a main office in Cox`s Bazar, and a support/liaison office in Dhaka.
∎ POSITION PROFILE:
∎ The Child Protection Case Manager`s primary function is to ensure quality child protection services for children vulnerable to abuse, exploitation, neglect and violence and provide case management support in one of three camps (2W, 6, 7). He/She is responsible to oversee a team of outreach volunteers at the camp level to ensure that all children at risk of GBV are identified and receive individual case management support. The Case Manager will also work as part of a team consisting of 3 child protection case managers, 2 protection officers, and 15 volunteers assigned to each camp. The case worker will engage with community structures, conducting assessments, developing and monitoring action plans, direct service provision, make referrals and case follow-ups for an assigned case load of children. He/She will provide support to families including when foster and alternative care are required.
∎ The Caseworker is responsible to develop/strengthen relationships with CIC`s, other organizations, camp governance structures, and across DRC`s programme at the field level and work in close collaboration with Child Protection and Case Management Team Leaders and Child Protection Manager. The Caseworker, with support from the Case Management Team Leader, is responsible for ensuring that the work of the team is compliant with donors and internal DRC reporting and accountability policy and procedures.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Assess individual protection issues identified during daily activities and make appropriate referrals for services to humanitarian or other actors as per the referral pathway or best practices.
∎ Train and support protection volunteers to identify and assist affected individuals.
∎ Identify cases in need of urgent response, guided by DRC's case management and IPA SOPs, and directly follow-up/accompany affected individuals to service providers when needed to ensure beneficiary access to services.
∎ Implement all steps of the case management process: including community outreach, case intake and initial assessment, detailed assessment and case planning, making referrals, case review, follow-up, and case closure.
∎ Conduct daily visits to children placed in alternative care (foster families) and provide ongoing support to families, foster and alternative care systems and develop case plan and interventions to return the child home whenever possible.
∎ Ensure filing and documentation of all CP cases using CPIMS.
∎ Provide individual psychosocial support to children and their care givers. Determine the need for therapeutic psychosocial, psychiatric support, health care, shelter, nutrition, NFI's for further referral to specialized services.
∎ Working with 'at risk' young people, their families, community, and CPC's to provide family mediation when appropriate.
∎ Regularly attend CIC meetings at camp level and other relevant camp meetings.
∎ Liaise closely with protection/GBV actors in the field and other humanitarian partners to ensure an understanding of the overall issues and effective collaboration amongst partners; an understanding that shall be used to guide weekly work plans.
∎ Work closely with other DRC staff, particularly protection monitoring, CBP, GBV, and CP, to ensure synergy across programmes and to mainstream protection across DRC's interventions.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Previous two years' experience working with vulnerable children in a refugee setting, preferably in protection or a related field.
∎ Experience of working with non-governmental organization, UN, or local organization.
∎ Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with empathy and respect with individuals and groups from various backgrounds.
∎ Good communication skills in Chittagonian or Rohingya.
∎ Ability to communicate in verbal and written English (basic).
∎ Willingness and ability to work in field environment, including in all weather conditions.
∎ Good organizational skills and capacity to work independently and as part of a dynamic team.
∎ Experience implementing refugee protection interventions and advocacy on behalf of vulnerable persons or groups.
∎ Ability to conduct training and awareness.
∎ Computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel).
∎ Desirable:
∎ Knowledge and previous experience of the Rohingya refugee response in Bangladesh.
∎ Chittagonian language skills.
∎ Languages: (indicate fluency level)
∎ Fluent in spoken English and strong writing/reporting skills in English.
