Additional Qualifications:

• Strong understanding of climate-resilient agriculture and coastal livelihoods.

• Experience in business plan development and mentoring youth entrepreneurs.

• Experience in revolving fund management or microfinance mechanisms.

• Ability to work with youth and women groups in rural settings.

• Strong communication and facilitation skills.

• Experience in engaging with private sector and market systems.

• Proficiency in MS Office and digital reporting tools.

• Experience in coastal areas (Satkhira/Khulna) will be considered an advantage.

• Uttaran invites applications for the vacant position titled- Business Development Officer for the Seeds of Resilience: Turning Climate Adversity into Enterprise and Empowerment.

Job Responsibilities

The Business Development Officer This initiative aims to empower adolescents and youth in coastal Bangladesh to establish climate-resilient and market-oriented enterprises through business development training, demonstration plots, revolving soft loans, and strong market linkages. The project supports youth to build sustainable livelihoods that contribute to climate adaptation and community resilience.

Duties and responsibilities:

 Identify and mobilize 500 youth (50% women) with entrepreneurial potential.

 Facilitate business development training on enterprise planning, financial literacy, marketing, and climate-smart agriculture practices.

 Support youth in preparing realistic, market-oriented, and climate-resilient business plans.

 Establish and facilitate 25 livelihood groups to promote peer learning, collective savings, and accountability.

 Coordinate the development and management of 10 demonstration and innovation plots showcasing climate-resilient agricultural practices and green technologies.

 Support the screening, monitoring, and management of revolving “soft” business loans for youth entrepreneurs.

 Provide regular mentoring and advisory support to ensure business growth and sustainability.

 Facilitate linkages with local markets, input suppliers, private sector actors, and financial institutions.

 Organize buyer-seller meetings, networking events, and exposure visits.

 Coordinate specialized technical support for business expansion and modernization.

 Maintain documentation of business progress, repayment tracking, and case studies of scalable business models.

 Ensure integration of environmental sustainability and climate resilience into all enterprise development activities.

 Engage and participate in other activities as deemed necessary for project implementation and assigned by supervisors.
