Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Implement comprehensive waste management (Solid waste and Medical waste) in the project area, reducing waste mismanagement and improving cleanliness
∎ Ensure solar power system and electrical equipment’s functionality
∎ Preparation of Solar system or electrical design drawing, BoQ
∎ Ensure proper segregation of waste as per category
∎ Market linkage with recycling plant or local vendor to manage recyclable inorganic waste
∎ Provide technical assistance and oversaw the production and distribution of organic compost
∎ Management of non-recyclables and landfill solid waste
∎ Operation and maintenance of incinerator machine to manage non-recyclable and valueless inorganic waste
∎ Develop and complete the Medical Waste Management for Health Facilities and oversee and manage, monitoring the total medical waste management
∎ Check the status of the facilities on regular basis and make a detailed maintenance plan
∎ Preparation of drawings (AutoCAD), 2D 3D, BoQ/Cost Estimates and Tender documents for all WASH infrastructures
∎ Help design and revise the construction/rehabilitation works component of the project work-plan, and monitor that the implementation of the construction/ rehabilitation activities respects the time-table milestones and deadlines
∎ Develop technical resources (e.g. strategic framework, standard operating procedures (SOPs), manuals) to guide BRAC WASH Infrastructure interventions, drawing from international best practices, along with field specific observations
∎ Regular monitoring of ongoing solid waste activities to ensure that all the activities are executing as per design, specifications and work schedule
∎ Develop and maintain good relationships and lines of communication with relevant local authorities and communities, prior to intervention explaining BRAC role as an NGO and liaising with them during all phases of the project
∎ Extend all possible technical support to other team members and contractors when and where required
∎ Working in harmony with all other project staff and field team for the effective and efficient day-to-day management of the WASH project
∎ Coordinate with other stakeholders on the ground for smooth, efficient and effective implementation of the activities
∎ Preparation of weekly, monthly work plans and construction progress reports
∎ Preparation of feasibility studies/ reports, organic compost tests analysis & reporting and completion certificates
∎ Ensure that all relevant data is well managed and provides an accurate representation of the reality on the ground
∎ Submit regular reports related to the project’s WASH infrastructure to the Project Manager
∎ Conduct trainings regarding operation and maintenance of water supply and sanitation facilities for beneficiaries and Water management committees
∎ Develop and execute a capacity building plan for BRAC (WASH) staff
∎ Conduct trainings for project staff and ‘Community WASH Focal Points’ on Solid waste infrastructure monitoring, operations, and maintenance
∎ Attend and participate in capacity building trainings locally and internationally, if any
∎ Monitor expenditures, budgets, and track activity expenses; ensure that appropriate action is taken in a timely fashion
∎ Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme's goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment
∎ Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action
∎ Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.
∎ This position will solely be responsible for the implementation and management of efficient waste management procedures, such as the handling of solid and medical waste, in the assigned project area.
