The Assistant Technical Specialist – Material Developer provides technical leadership in the design, development, and quality assurance of inclusive, play-based learning and caregiver engagement materials under the BRAC–LEGO strategic partnership. The role ensures that all materials are developmentally appropriate, culturally relevant, and aligned with programme standards and global ECD frameworks.
Lead the technical design and development of age-appropriate, inclusive, and play-based learning materials for children aged 0–8 years
Ensure alignment of materials with programme frameworks including responsive caregiving, early stimulation, play-based learning, and school readiness
Provide technical guidance and supervision to the Senior Project Officer – Material Developer
Develop a range of materials including storybooks, activity cards, facilitator tools, games, posters, and caregiver engagement resources
Ensure materials promote holistic child development (cognitive, socio-emotional, language, physical, and creative domains)
Contextualize materials to reflect local culture, language, and practices of Rohingya and host communities
Integrate inclusion (SEND), child protection, and psychosocial wellbeing considerations into all materials
Review and validate materials to ensure quality, consistency, and alignment with programme standards
Collaborate with technical teams (ECD, MERL, Capacity Building, QA) to ensure materials support programme objectives
Coordinate with Head Office specialists, consultants, and external experts for technical review and improvement
Oversee piloting and field testing of materials and incorporate feedback for refinement
Support development of facilitator guides, manuals, and session plans
Ensure materials are safe, durable, and suitable for humanitarian contexts
Promote development of low-cost, locally sourced play materials
Maintain documentation, version control, and archiving of all materials
Support training and orientation of facilitators and staff on the effective use of materials
Safeguarding
Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme's goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment
Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action
Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so
