Experience:
Strong knowledge of herd health management, reproductive physiology, and dairy nutrition.
Familiarity with farm management software and digital record-keeping systems.
Good interpersonal and communication skills to work with farm staff and management.
Willingness to reside on-site and be available for emergencies.
1. Preventive Health Care
Develop and execute herd health plans, including Footbath (CuSo4), vaccination schedules and routine deworming.
Implement biosecurity protocols to prevent disease introduction and spread.
Oversee ectoparasite control, vector management and sanitation measures.
2. Early Disease Diagnosis & Treatment
Conduct daily health inspections of the herd and calves for early detection of illness.
Routine observation while feeding & milking
Use diagnostic tools (CMT tests, fecal test, blood tests) to identify clinical and sub-clinical conditions.
Keep real time up-to-date with our Advisor regarding animal treatment and share follow-up on WhatsApp group
In some cases sampling and send to concern lab for further investigation
Administer appropriate treatments, monitor recovery, and adjust protocols as necessary.
3. Reproductive & Breeding Management
Assist in heat detection and coordinate Artificial Insemination (AI) schedules with AI officer followed by mating plan
Test & Follow up: a) Post-partum check b) Pregnancy diagnosis c) Synchronization as per SOP
Track reproductive performance metrics i.e conception rates, pregnancy % within milking cow and keep close follow up on average Days in Milk (DIM)
Provide technical guidance on breeding decisions and calving management.
4. Nutrition & Feeding Oversight
Work with nutritionist/farm manager to optimize Total Mixed Ration (TMR) formulations.
Keep close follow-up while TMR preparation especially micro-mineral mixing & weighing
Keep real time up-to-date with herd population group wise.
Monitor feed intake and body condition scoring (BCS) to ensure nutritional adequacy.
Support feed raw materials quality control and feeding strategy to reduce metabolic disorders.
5. Record Keeping & Reporting
Maintain detailed treatment records for each animal, including treatments, vaccinations, and reproductive events and give input on delpro.
Generate daily, weekly and monthly health and performance reports for management.
Track key herd KPIs such as conception rate, Pregnancy %, Herd Avg, (pure +Cross), Milk yield, Days in Milk (DIM), calving etc.
6. Training & Capacity Building
Train farm staff on proper animal handling, hygiene, and first-response care.
Conduct refresher sessions on biosecurity, milking hygiene, and calf care protocols.
7. Emergency Response & On-Call Duties
Provide 24/7 on-site availability for emergency cases such as dystocia, injury, or disease outbreak.
Lead rapid containment actions during disease emergencies.
