Responsibilities & Context:

JOB TITLE AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The Employee’s position is that of Assistant Human Resources Officer and reports to the Senior HR Officer of ARTICLE 19, Bangladesh and South Asia.

The HR Assistant plays a critical role in supporting the daily operations of the Human Resources department. This position is responsible for providing administrative support across a variety of HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, employee records management, benefits administration and general HR activities. The ideal candidate will be organized, detail-oriented and capable of handling sensitive employee information with confidentiality and professionalism.

In close collaboration with the Senior HR Officer, the Employee will be responsible to address the following key responsibilities:

  • Maintain and update employee records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal and company policies.

  • Assist with posting job openings on job boards, company websites and social media platforms.

  • Assist in screening resumes and applications to identify qualified candidates.

  • Schedule and coordinate interviews between candidates and hiring managers.

  • Assist in the new hire onboarding process, including gathering necessary documents, preparing workstations and ensuring compliance with company policies.

  • Assist in the proper filing, storage, and retrieval of employee files, both digital and physical, in accordance with record retention policies.

  • Support the Line Manager in organizing and maintaining HR documents, policies and procedures.

  • Ensure timekeeping, attendance tracking, and leave management.

  • Assist in the preparation of timesheets and monthly payroll.

  • Assist in managing staff provident and gratuity fund.

  • Assist in the staff appraisal process and support performance management to ensure alignment with organizational goals and employee development.

  • Assist in preparing HR reports, such as turnover, attendance and other relevant HR metrics.

  • Assist in organizing employee engagement activities and events.

  • Assist in ensuring HR practices comply with ARTICLE 19’s HR policy, local labor laws and regulations.

  • Maintain a positive and professional work environment by fostering open communication between employees and HR.

  • Contribute to the professional development of staff members by tracking down areas of development with the help of line managers and arranging necessary skill-building training to develop the team with management’s approval.

  • Perform administrative duties such as scheduling meetings, preparing correspondence and handling inquiries from employees or external parties.

  • Any other HR operations-related impromptu tasks assigned by the Line Manager.
