Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Preventive Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of hotel equipment, machinery, and systems (e.g., HVAC, elevators, boilers, electrical systems).
∎ Maintain a log of preventive maintenance schedules and completed tasks.Repair and Troubleshooting: Respond promptly to maintenance requests from various departments.
∎ Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, and plumbing issues. Ensure minimal disruption to hotel operations during repairs.
∎ Compliance and Safety: Adhere to all safety protocols and standards. Ensure compliance with local building codes, fire safety regulations, and environmental policies. Conduct routine checks on fire alarm systems, sprinklers, and emergency power systems.Energy Management: Monitor and optimize energy consumption throughout the hotel.
∎ Suggest and implement energy-saving initiatives to reduce costs.Inventory and Equipment Management: Keep track of tools, spare parts, and maintenance supplies. Coordinate with procurement for replenishment of inventory.Team Support: Assist senior engineers or the chief engineer in managing larger projects.
∎ Provide guidance and training to junior staff in the engineering department.Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all maintenance work, repairs, and equipment performance.
∎ Prepare reports on equipment status and maintenance activities as required. Collaboration with Other Departments: Work closely with housekeeping, front office, and F&B departments to resolve technical issues that impact guest service.Emergency Response: Be available for emergency maintenance needs, including power outages, water leaks, or system failures.
∎ Participate in disaster management drills and ensure readiness of essential systems.Project Assistance: Assist in the execution of renovation or refurbishment projects.
∎ Provide technical input for upgrades and new installations.Work Environment: Hotels operate 24/7, so the Assistant Engineer may need to work in shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
∎ The role often involves physical work, such as climbing ladders, lifting heavy objects, and working in tight or high spaces.
