Responsibilities & Context:
1. Area Business & Operations Management
Lead area-wide planning for sweet corn contract farming, including seasonal calendars, acreage expansion, and production targets across sub-districts.
Consolidate and approve sub-district plans to ensure balanced risk distribution and continuous supply.
Oversee farmer onboarding strategies and ensure adherence to approved selection criteria.
Ensure timely availability and efficient utilization of inputs across the area.
Monitor and control area-level operational budgets, logistics, and support costs.
Track cost per acre and cost per MT at area level and drive efficiency improvements.
Ensure strong coordination among field, procurement, logistics, processing, and finance teams.
2. Buying, Harvesting & Payment Oversight
Oversee area-wide harvesting and buying operations to meet quality, volume, and timeline commitments.
Ensure consistent adherence to physiological maturity standards and quality parameters.
Monitor weighing, grading, documentation, and compliance at buying points.
Ensure transparency and contract compliance in procurement practices.
Coordinate with finance teams to ensure timely and accurate farmer payments.
Escalate and resolve complex farmer disputes related to pricing, quality, or payment.
Strengthen long-term farmer trust and partnership at area level.
3. Stakeholder Engagement & Compliance
Act as the principal area-level liaison with local administration, agriculture departments, and relevant authorities.
Build and maintain strong relationships with farmer leaders, associations, and community stakeholders.
Ensure compliance with environmental, labor, ethical, and company standards across sub-districts.
Support audits, inspections, and regulatory engagements with complete documentation.
Promote sustainable and responsible farming practices at scale.
4. Performance Management & Reporting
Review and analyze area-level KPIs, including:
Contracted acreage vs target
Production vs plan
Yield per acre
Quality rejection rate
Farmer retention and satisfaction
Cost efficiency indicators
Identify operational gaps, risks, and improvement opportunities.
Drive corrective and preventive actions through Assistant Managers and technical teams.
Conduct regular performance review meetings with Assistant Managers.
Ensure timely submission of consolidated weekly, monthly, and seasonal reports.
Provide accurate forecasts and strategic insights to regional management.
Report area performance, risks, and improvement plans to the Regional Manager.
5. Leadership & Team Development
Lead, mentor, and develop Assistant Managers and area field teams.
Ensure role clarity, accountability, and performance discipline across the area.
Support training, capacity building, and talent development initiatives.
Foster a culture of transparency, compliance, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
6. Risk Management & Continuous Improvement
Identify and manage area-level risks including weather variability, pest pressure, labor availability, and market disruptions.
Develop and implement mitigation and contingency plans.
Promote adoption of best agronomic and operational practices.
Support pilot initiatives, innovation trials, and scaling of successful interventions.
