Responsibilities & Context:

In a hospital or healthcare setting, an AGM – Admin (Assistant General Manager for Administration) is a senior administrative leader who supports smooth running of all non-clinical operations of the hospital. They work closely with senior leadership (like the General Manager or Hospital Director) to ensure efficient administrative systems, compliance, staff coordination, and overall operational effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

Overseeing Administrative Functions

  • Manage daily administrative operations of the hospital (office management, front desk, records, logistics).

  • Ensure smooth functioning of support services like housekeeping, transport, security, and facility management.

Staff & Team Leadership

  • Supervise administration staff and coordinate with HR for staffing, training, schedules, and performance.

  • Provide leadership and guidance to staff across departments ensuring they follow policies and procedures.

Compliance & Policy Implementation

  • Ensure hospital administrative processes comply with laws, regulations, and internal policies.

  • Update administrative policies, safety procedures, and ensure guidelines are correctly enforced.

Coordination & Communication

  • Act as a bridge between clinical and non-clinical teams (e.g., administration, finance, facilities).

  • Coordinate with different departments to solve problems, improve workflows, and handle escalations.

Resource & Facility Management

  • Oversee logistics, maintenance of hospital assets, utilities, vendors, and support services.

  • Ensure supplies, equipment, and infrastructure support hospital functions without interruption.

Patient Experience Support

  • Support effective patient services by making sure administrative processes (admissions, records, billing support) are efficient.
