Experience:
Master’s degree from a reputed university in Social Science, Development Studies, or Human Rights.
Proven experience in Social Research, Policy Research, and Advocacy.
Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
Demonstrated commitment to working with marginalized and neglected populations, preferably with familiarity in global development issues.
Strong communication skills, including writing for both technical and general audiences and public speaking.
Creative and analytical thinker with problem-solving abilities.
Ability to prioritize, multitask, and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
Experience in desk-based research, synthesis of complex information, and development of advocacy materials.
Experience in stakeholder engagement and awareness-raising initiatives.
Good understanding of English to interpret complex policies and documents.
Experiences
Minimum 03 to 04 years of relevant experience in policy research and advocacy in reputed NGO/INGO.
Age not more than 40 years
Strong computer skills in SPSS, MS Word, Excel, Internet, and email operations.
Excellent writing skills in both Bengali and English.
OKUP is a right based migrant organization. OKUP promotes and protects human rights, labour rights, justice and dignity of all migrant workers irrespective of gender, across borders, through putting migrants’ perspectives at the centre of migration discourse at all levels through unity and empowerment of migrant workers themselves.
OKUP is implementing a 45-month project (Strengthened and Informative Migration Systems – SIMS -II), funded through Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation Bangladesh. The overall objective of this project is to promote migrants particularly marginalized men and women improve their wellbeing due to safer migration practices and better migration governance. OKUP invites applications for the vacant position of Advocacy Officer at Dhaka Head Office.

Major Responsibilities:
The Advocacy Officer is responsible for overall advocacy and research related activities of the project in order to achieve the project goal and objectives as per approved design through appropriate planning, implementation, and coordination. The Advocacy Officer will be accountable for supporting research and content development, policy analysis, tracking policy developments relevant to the NGO sector, arranging policy dialogues with stakeholders, and enhancing the capacity of OKUP staff and volunteers to play an effective advocacy role at the local level.
Specific roles and responsibilities are as follows:
Support the design of advocacy strategies and engagement plans in collaboration with the project team.
Develop communication and advocacy tools highlighting public interest issues.
Support situational analyses and strategic reviews to inform organizational decision-making and engagement opportunities.
Engage with partner organizations to promote strategic cooperation and strengthen advocacy opportunities with government institutions, ministries, and other stakeholders.
Coordinate with networks to gather information on the policy landscape and support engagement on potential pathways for the NGO sector.
Establish effective working relationship, partnership with relevant government and non-government service provider organizations.
Support management in policy research and dissemination of information to member organizations.
Participate in program planning processes and budgeting of program quality and fundraising initiatives.
Support preparation of quarterly, six-monthly, and annual organizational reports.
Assist the project team in any other tasks as required.
Represent OKUP when and where necessary
Documentation and Reporting:
Follow up MIS system to track the project participants and other project information and regular monitoring and supervision of project performance
Prepare fortnightly updates and monthly progress reports of the project performance
Ensure timely quarterly, bi-annually and annual impact assessment of project inputs and comprehensive narrative report aligning with project design and donor requirement
Ensure regular documentation of case stories, success stories of the project interventions for references and feeding into OKUP website, Facebook and other communication channels which comply with donor and partner guidelines.
Ensure monthly programmatic documentations and reports with the approval of concerned authority
