AVAS is implementing the “Partnerships for Improved Reproductive, Maternal, Neonatal, Child, and Adolescent Health (RMNCAH) in Coastal Bangladesh” project, funded by Margaret A. Cargill Philanthropies (MACP) and supported by Concern Worldwide. This initiative aims to improve RMNCAH services in the coastal regions of Bangladesh, particularly in Galachipa sub-district, Patuakhali district. The project duration is up to December 2026. AVAS is looking for a skilled and energetic Union Supervisor to ensure the project implementation at the union and lower levels. The Union Supervisor will work closely with the Project Coordinator and coordinating the Field Facilitators and Health Volunteer to ensure that project implementation is align with its goals and objectives.
As a key field-based position, the Union Supervisor will oversee community health initiatives within the union. Responsibilities include supervising field facilitators and volunteers, mobilizing community members, and ensuring effective health program delivery for women, children, and adolescents. The Union Supervisor will collaborate with project staff and local health entities to guarantee that essential health services are provided efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
1. Program Implementation and Coordination
Take responsibility for the effective implementation of health programs within the assigned union, following planned activities and guidelines.
Supervise Field Facilitators and volunteers to ensure quality program delivery.
Ensure regular meetings for the Union Education, Health, and Family Planning Standing Committee, as well as the Union Health and Family Welfare Centre Management Committee.
Support and oversee Field Facilitators in organizing Community Group, Support Group, and Health Education and Awareness meetings within the community.
Ensure Health Volunteers are conducting home visits to targeted households and providing thorough counselling to participants in the program.
Assist in collecting and analysing data related to health, family planning, nutrition, water, and sanitation services.
2. Capacity Building
Support and guide Field Facilitators and volunteers in conducting community health mobilization activities.
Provide training and instruction to ensure proper health support for pregnant women, new-borns, and adolescents.
3. Stakeholder Engagement
Build and maintain relationships with community leaders, health facilities (HPA, Community Clinic, Union Health Centre), and other health organizations.
Facilitate coordination and joint efforts with local health support organizations and stakeholders.
4. Monitoring and Supervision
Monitor and supervise health awareness programs and community health initiatives at the village, ward, and union levels.
Encourage the establishment of health latrines and sanitation facilities in the community.
Regularly share field findings with project teams and stakeholders, implementing feedback for program improvement.
5. Advocacy and Liaison
Advocate for health rights and services within the community, focusing on inclusion and equitable access.
Facilitate UP level meetings and ensure active participation from local government and health stakeholders.
6. Report and Documentation
Prepare, cross-check, and finalize UP level quality reports, assisting the supervisor in finalizing them.
Document and report all relevant data and field observations to ensure accurate project tracking.
7. Additional Responsibilities
Perform any other tasks assigned by the Project Coordinator or SDA Management.
Ensure effective communication with all project and community stakeholders.
