Education • Diploma of Midwife with updated BNMC registration number.

Experience • Minimum 2-year experience as Midwife

• Working experience with MSF is preferable

• Training in SGBV, ALSO or Essential Newborn Care (ENC1) are preferable

• Preferably in emergency, OPD, or acute care.

Language • Essential : English and Bangla Language

• Desirable : Chittagongian Dialect.

Knowledge • Essential computer literacy (word, excel and internet)



Responsibilities & Context:

• Supervising, supporting and evaluating the team under his/her responsibility particularly midwives, midwife assistants and other related staff in her team such as cleaners. Planning and organizing their work (areas, days, absences, visits, holidays, etc) and coaching them in their work with special focus in following all appropriate protocols and procedures

• Ensuring team work and a professional relationship between maternity and other departments.

• Supervising the clinical activities in all the maternity departments and activities such as ante-natal consultations, delivery and after delivery follow up, post-natal consultations, family planning consultations, new-born vaccinations and liaising with the Medical Doctor about the patients who need special care times, visiting hours, etc.

• Ensuring that the staff on duty knows, implements and follows at all times the universal hygiene standards/ precautions, bio-hazard prevention and infection control in the medical premises ensuring high standards of hygiene in the working environment

• Ensuring that all staff using medical devices are qualified and trained, cleaning and minor maintenance tasks are performed according to the protocols, reporting any malfunction to the project biomedical service. Being responsible for the department-related pharmacy activities (stock and consumption monitoring) as well as maintenance of the medical equipment

• Being responsible for ensuring that all the administrative procedures, patients’ data and documents are filled in correctly and registered for compiling monthly reports reflecting the activity in the department.

• In certain contexts, being responsible for ensuring that the maternity staff is able to identify, receive and provide care to the victims of the SGBV in collaboration with the SGBV department and following the protocols.

• Supervise all activities within the assigned SRH department in Kutupalong project, including SRH OPD or SRH IPD activities

• Participate in the rotational duty roster for Midwife Supervisors, including night and weekend supervisory coverage for the SRH Inpatient Department (SRH IPD)

• Ensure close collaboration with all midwife supervisors focused on SRH and SGBV activities

• Participate in and oversee SAC activities in SRH OPD and SRH IPD departments

• Ensure close collaboration with SV Supervisor, to support integrated SGBV activities in both SRH OPD and SRH IPD

• Ensure effective collaboration between all departments and colleagues (Nurses, MDs, CBTMs, etc)

• Ensure close collaboration and effective communication with Mental Health, IPC, Health Promotion and Outreach teams to support integrated patient-centered care

• Ensure that communication with HAO about protection and safe shelter needs are completed in timely manner, and prepare necessary information and documentation upon HAO request

• Create the staff schedule (Midwives, Midwife Assistants, and MAMAs) and ensure the availability of qualified staff in assigned departments, while reporting to direct hierarchical managers.

• Ensure that HR policy is followed and that a timely rostering and annual leave planning is in place

• Plan, analyse and manage weekly pharmacy stock in the assigned SRH department(s) according to the consumption, while reporting to direct hierarchical managers.

• Analyse the activities in the SRH departments, ensuring that guidelines, protocols and internal SOPs are used by all staff.

• Supervise correct use of diagnostic and treatment protocols according to MSF guidelines, including strict adherence to universal precautions.

• Participate in annual planning, provide solutions and action plans for identified challenges, including follow-up on these action plans.

• Ensure timely, comprehensive monthly medical activities reporting for assigned SRH department(s)

• Ensure correct documentation for delivered care in the assigned SRH department(s)

• Ensure staff are evaluated as per policy, completing the performance evaluation documentation, the PIP when appropriate and report disciplinary issues to HR.

• Ensure filing of Medical Incident Reports and general incident reports when appropriate

• Participate in the assessment and evaluation of staff performance and competency development, establish learning objectives, provide feedback, and support continuous improvement to maintain MSF standards of quality of care

• Identify staff training and development needs and, together with MWAM, contribute to the planning, delivery, tracking, and evaluation of SRH trainings and learning activities, including bedside training, classroom training, coaching, and interdisciplinary trainings (with Counselors, MDs, MAMAs, etc)

• Work in alignment with MSF’s principles of Patient Centered Care and Respectful Maternal Care



Job Other Benifits:

    02 Permanent & 01 Temporary Position. Salary according to level Eight (Level 8) of the internal MSF salary grid (BDT 108000 Gross). Salary is not negotiable. Income tax deduction from salary based on current income tax rule. 2 annual leave days per month worked. Medical insurance for employee and direct dependents based on Health Care Policy- Locally Recruited Staff.

    There is no provisions for relocation. 2 Festival Bonuses after completion of one year of uninterrupted continuous service.
