∎ Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in agricultural training, rural development, or supply chain projects.
∎ Proven experience working with smallholder farmers, especially in tea and oil seeds production, is highly desirable.
∎ Strong understanding of sustainable agricultural practices, value chain development, and rural livelihoods.
∎ Experience in designing and delivering training programs in a field setting.
∎ Excellent facilitation, presentation, and communication skills.
∎ Strong organizational and time management abilities.
∎ Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation tools for training programs.
∎ Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including local communities, government officials, and private sector actors.
∎ Proficiency in local language(s) and cultural sensitivity.
∎ Willingness to travel extensively to project sites.
∎ Knowledge of environmental sustainability and eco-friendly farming methods.
∎ Experience in promoting gender equity and inclusiveness in agricultural projects.
∎ Familiarity with the challenges faced by smallholder farmers in supply chains, particularly in tea and oil seeds sectors.

Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Develop comprehensive training modules on sustainable agriculture practices, focusing on tea and oil seeds production.
∎ Conduct field-based training sessions for smallholder farmers on best practices, including soil health, pest management, and post-harvest techniques.
∎ Organize workshops and seminars to promote inclusive growth and participation of women, youth, and marginalized groups in the agricultural supply chain.
∎ Ensure training content is tailored to the specific needs of different smallholder groups and local contexts.Capacity Building
∎ Identify knowledge gaps among farmers and develop targeted interventions to address them.
∎ Collaborate with local agricultural experts, extension workers, and other stakeholders to enhance the capacity of smallholder farmers.
∎ Provide continuous mentoring and technical support to farmers to ensure knowledge retention and practical application of skills.Monitoring and Evaluation
∎ Track the progress of training activities and document their impact on agricultural productivity and supply chain inclusiveness.
∎ Assist in data collection and reporting on training outcomes, including improvements in farm productivity, income levels, and social inclusiveness.
∎ Conduct periodic assessments to refine training programs and ensure alignment with project goals.Collaboration and Coordination
∎ Work closely with project partners, including local NGOs, government agricultural departments, and private sector actors, to ensure smooth coordination of training initiatives.
∎ Collaborate with ESDO’s other teams and external stakeholders to integrate cross-cutting issues such as gender equity, climate resilience, and food security into the training modules.
∎ Participate in regular project team meetings and contribute to overall project planning and decision-making.Documentation and Reporting
∎ Prepare detailed training reports, success stories, and case studies on the progress of smallholder farmers.
∎ Maintain accurate records of training sessions, attendance, and feedback from participants.
∎ Assist the Project Coordinator in preparing progress reports for donors and other stakeholders.
∎ Eco-Social Development Organization (ESDO) started its journey in 1988 with a noble vision to stand in solidarity with the poor and marginalized. Being a peoples' centered organization, ESDO envisioned for a society which will be free from inequality and injustice, a society where no child will cry from hunger and no life will be ruined by poverty. ESDO is one of the most dynamic organizations expanding its development interventions across 337 upazilas under 53 districts of Bangladesh covering over 12 million poor and vulnerable people.
∎ The Training Officer will play a key role in enhancing the technical capacity of smallholder farmers in tea and oil seeds cultivation. The role involves designing and delivering training programs aimed at improving agricultural productivity, promoting sustainable farming practices, and ensuring inclusiveness in supply chains. The Officer will also work closely with the project team and smallholder communities to foster agricultural innovation and ensure project goals are met.
