Job Context:

∎ Objective of the programme: We are looking to recruit a Tourism Innovation and Research Officer who will be responsible for supporting research and innovation initiatives in the field of tourism collaboratively with team of researchers, data scientists, industry professionals, and stakeholders to develop and implement projects activities that contribute to the growth and sustainability of the tourism sector. The person will work with UN Agency and Government Agencies to discharge his/her responsibility.
∎ Administrative Issues:-
∎ Office place, the working station will be in Dhaka.
∎ Consultant will be responsible to pay all taxes as per government rules and regulations. E-Zone will make statutory deductions towards income tax as per government rules and regulations.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Innovation Support:
∎ Stay updated on emerging technologies, trends, and innovative best practices in the tourism industry globally.
∎ Participate in brainstorming sessions and provide insights on challenges, issues, and potential areas for innovation within the tourism sector of Bangladesh.
∎ Monitor the development of innovative ideas and solutions for the challenges and issues to enhance tourism experiences, sustainability, and competitiveness.
∎ Project Activity Management:
∎ Collaborate with the data science and research team to develop and implement research project activities aimed at addressing specific tourism challenges or opportunities.
∎ Develop the project activity planning, including defining objectives, timelines, budget, and deliverables.
∎ Coordinate with internal and external public & private stakeholders, industry associations, and academic institutions, to ensure successful project activity execution.
∎ Monitor project progress, track key milestones, and report on project outcomes to management.
∎ Communication and Collaboration:
∎ Deliver presentations to internal and external stakeholders, conveying innovative solutions to the challenges in the tourism sector and project updates.
∎ Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including researchers, data scientists, analysts, designers, and developers, to support innovation projects.
∎ Supervise the organization of workshops, conferences, and other events related to tourism innovation. and academic institutions, to ensure successful project activity execution.
∎ Any other related tasks as maybe required or assigned by the supervisor.
Additional Requirements:
∎ At least 5 years of professional experience in tourism industry and hospitality management is required.
∎ Knowledge of current trends, challenges, and opportunities of the tourism sector in Bangladesh is required.
∎ Familiarity with innovation frameworks, technology trends, and their application in the tourism sector is required.
∎ Strong knowledge of working with MS-Office is required.
∎ Ability to identify business problems, formulate analytical approaches, and develop innovative solutions is required.
∎ Ability to work quickly and efficiently to tight deadlines is required.
∎ Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and collaborate with colleagues from diverse backgrounds is required.
∎ Essential: Fluency in speaking and writing in Bangla and English.
