Job Context:
∎ Technical Advisor, Childhood TB, Infection Control and Preventive Therapy (Childhood TB, IC & PT), USAID`s Alliance for Combating TB in Bangladesh with Programme for Emerging Infections under the Infectious Diseases Division (Adv#107/2020)
∎ icddr,b invites applications from suitable candidates for the position of Technical Advisor(Childhood TB,IC & PT), USAID`s Alliance for Combating TB in Bangladesh with Programme for Emerging Infections under the Infectious Diseases Division. The appointment will be made on Fixed Term basis for 1 year which is renewable depending on performance and availability of funds.
∎ Position description :
∎ The USAID`s Alliance for Combating TB in Bangladesh project will develop a dynamic, strategic, and fresh approach to accelerate Bangladesh`s fight against TB. The solutions will be aimed at creating an environment aligned with the universal health coverage (UHC) vision and focused on defined priority areas - increased TB detection, decentralized DR-TB management, child TB, expanded prevention and others.
∎ Technical Advisor, Childhood TB, Infection Control and Preventive Therapy (Child TB, IC & PT), reportable to Chief of Party is responsible to assist in planning, implementing and coordinating activities related to Childhood TB, TB infection prevention and control (IPC) as well as TB preventive therapy (TPT). The incumbent will be responsible for coordinating the Childhood TB, IPC and TPT components of the program, ensuring compliance to icddr,b as well as donor regulations across all partners and assist the program in achieving the results defined in the cooperative agreement. S/he will be accountable for ensuring highest level of compliance with award conditions, organizational policies and procedures, and acceptable standards.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Strategic and Technical Leadership

∎ Provide technical support in developing systems, tools, job aids, IEC materials as required for improving diagnosis and treatment of Childhood TB, IPC and TPT;
∎ Work in team to provide technical support to NTP and partners in developing appropriate strategies and plans to improve detection and management of childhood TB.
∎ Strategy Development & Project Implementation

∎ Work in teams to develop ACTB annual work plan;
∎ Identify and incorporate appropriate Childhood TB, IPC and TPT related actions in work plan consistent with project objectives and aligned with national program needs;
∎ Developing and implementing strategies to improve access to childhood TB services;
∎ Developing and implementing strategies and interventions to improve TB IPC;
∎ Developing and implementing strategies and interventions to effectively roll out TPT;
∎ Monitor implementation of planned activities through periodic consultations, monthly progress review meetings, reports review, and field trips;
∎ Provide written feedback for improving performance and take corrective actions, as needed.
∎ Partner Management

∎ Work closely with the National TB Control Program (NTP), WHO, NGO partners and other stakeholders in identifying program priorities, developing strategies and designing interventions and coordinating implementation of field activities across all the consortium partners in order to achieve desired results in Childhood TB, IPC and TPT;
∎ Assist NTP and other collaborating partners on developing training strategies and materials relevant to childhood TB, IPC and TPT.
∎ Capacity Development:
∎ Facilitate NTP in planning and conducting training of health care staff on childhood TB; IPC and TPT;
∎ Participate in workshops, seminars, task force and expert committees to identify policy, technical and programmatic gaps in increasing case notifications, diagnosis and treatment of childhood TB.
∎ People Management:
∎ Promote a spirit of collegiality and gender diversity amongst team members and in the organisation;
∎ Encourage team members to collaborate across areas; Address and resolve any diversity related issues;
∎ Set goals and conduct appraisals for the team; Set high standards and confront poor performance where needed;
∎ Mentor young professionals and prepare them for higher responsibilities; Identify and reward high performers; Recommend promotions;
∎ Take appropriate actions to manage poor performance (such as creating Performance Improvement Plans, coaching, job rotations, planning separations from icddr,b in order to build and develop an engaged and high performing team.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Minimum 6 years of experience in public health programs; Preference will be given to those who have experience in providing technical assistance in developing and implementing childhood TB related programs; The candidate should have proven track record of successful capacity building and association with TB and willingness to travel in remote area of Bangladesh.

Salary:
∎ Annual Tk. 21,20,860/- inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances and other admissible benefits.

Compensation & Other Benefits:
∎ 14.8% provident fund contribution, income tax paid by icddr,b, children allowance @Tk.1,917/- per child per month, festival bonus, contributory healthcare support including dependent spouse and children, group life insurance and subsidized canteen. Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
