Responsibilities & Context:
As a System Engineer, you will play a critical role in maintaining, optimizing, and securing Linux server environments. In addition to managing system performance and security, you will oversee release preparation, deployments, and troubleshooting service issues in adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Clear communication with clients and detailed documentation will also be key aspects of this role.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers, including Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu, and others.
Perform routine system updates, patches, and performance tuning.
Monitor system performance and promptly troubleshoot and resolve issues.
Automate system management tasks using shell scripts or other scripting languages.
Implement and monitor system security measures, including firewalls, SELinux, and intrusion detection.
Deploy applications and services across test and production environments.
Collaborate with development teams to optimize deployment processes, leveraging automation tools like Ansible, and Jenkins.
Diagnose and resolve service issues, ensuring SLA compliance.
Conduct root cause analysis to prevent future issues and ensure systems are highly available and performant.
Act as the point of contact for system-related issues, providing technical support and updates to clients.
Clearly communicate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
Document system configurations, release processes, troubleshooting procedures, and deployment outcomes.
Prepare reports on system performance, SLA compliance, and resolved incidents.
Identify and implement improvements in system automation, security, and performance.
Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry best practices.
