Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Eco-Social Development Organization (ESDO) started its journey in 1988 with a noble vision of solidarity with the poor and marginalized. Being a peoples' centered organization, ESDO envisioned a society free from inequality and injustice, where no child would cry from hunger and no life would be ruined by poverty. Near about three decades of relentless efforts to make this happen, ESDO has embraced new grounds and opened up new horizons to help the disadvantaged and vulnerable people bring meaningful and lasting changes in their lives. During this long span, ESDO has adapted to the changing situation and provided the most time-bound services, especially for the poor and disadvantaged. ESDO has adopted a community-focused and people-centered approach while consideration was given to the national policy and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as its guiding principle. ESDO is one of the most dynamic organizations expanding its development interventions across 331 upazilas under 54 districts of Bangladesh, covering over 10 million poor and vulnerable people.
∎ In partnership with Water Aid Bangladesh, ESDO is implementing the GO4IMPact Programme supporting local democratic governance and climate-resilient public service provision in Bangladesh at Naogaon District. ESDO is inviting applications from interested qualified candidates for the position.
∎ • Be responsible for designing and implementing SWM-related relevant solutions like waste disposal, collection, and recycling.
∎ • Develop a manual focusing on the functions of the local governments and their role in providing public service delivery related to SWM.
∎ • Review the relevant national policies and regulations related to SWM and make recommendations on what should be incorporated into the project.
∎ • Oriented and provided training on SWM to different stakeholders.
∎ • Network and maintain communication with the relevant government representatives of the national level for SWM, especially the relevant ministries under the Government of Bangladesh and other national advisors, to ensure smooth information and implementation.
∎ • Provide strategic, technical, and policy advice and assistance on all SWM matters that support waste management and pollution control action delivery.
∎ • Provide technical and policy advice on emerging SWM issues and their potential implications.
∎ • Support the PIU team by providing local insights and data to develop innovative business models and plans regarding SWM.
∎ • Identify potential entrepreneurs and local private sector players in the field of SWM and initiate engagement efforts with them.
∎ • Facilitated and mentored projects that supported SWM entrepreneurs and other private sector players in expanding their businesses.
∎ • Coordinate and advise the program and other stakeholders on SWM issues.
∎ • Provide program development and management support where necessary.
∎ • Support in documentation and knowledge management regarding the SWM initiatives.
∎ • Implement SWM management plans at the Unions/Paurashavas level (preparing plans, operating and monitoring plans)
∎ • Any other relevant responsibilities assigned by line management
