Research degree (with a Master’s degree at least) from a recognized university in Environmental Science, Environmental Economics, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sociology, Urban and Regional Planning (URP), Anthropology, Operations Management, Disaster Management, Climate Finance, or other relevant disciplines.

• At least 5 years
• The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s): Development Agency

• 5+ years of relevant research experience, preferably in sustainability, waste management, ecosystem development.

• Experience in qualitative and/or quantitative research methods, data visualization, and environmental research.

• Preferably with an experience in research publication

• Proficiency in MS Office; experience with software like NVivo, SPSS, or STATA.

• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills; and adept at building relationships with different stakeholders.

• Experience in using initiative and creativity to resolve problems, identifying suitable solutions and opportunities for improvements.

• Methodical approach to work and high level of attention to detail.

• Must be self-motivated, hardworking and flexible regarding work hour.

• Flexible approach to work and positive response to changing requirements.

• Good analytical ability, and excellent speaking and writing skills in English and Bangla.

• Must be open to traveling for fieldwork.

Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (CED), BRAC University (BRACU) is looking for a Senior Research Associate for the project titled “Addressing climate change and plastic waste in Bangladesh’s garment industry from a global value chain perspective (2024-2029)”, funded by the Danida Fellowship Centre (DFC), in cooperation with the University of Southern Denmark (SDU), Aalborg University, BRAC University, Institute of Business Administration, University of Dhaka (IBA-DU).

Major Responsibilities:

• Coordinate in the design and implementation of qualitative and quantitative research activities of the project.
• Oversee primary data collection activities and prepare data collection tools.
• Visit the project sites to conduct fieldwork including interviews, surveys, and factory visits related to plastic waste recycling.
• Lead the data cleaning and data analysis activities.
• Coordinate and facilitate stakeholder engagement activities, including co-creation workshops with policymakers, plastic recyclers, and other stakeholders.
• Organize dissemination events and advocacy activities.
• Draft research briefs, and reports, based on research findings.
• Guide and coordinate the work of junior researchers in the project.
• Make liaison with relevant bodies, national and international stakeholders and different authorities.
• Provide institutional support for conducting research activities.
