Responsibilities & Context:

BRAC is an international development organisation founded in Bangladesh in 1972 that partners globally with over 100 million people living with inequality and poverty to create opportunities to realise their potential.

The Senior Project Officer (Upazila Coordinator) will support the operation and implementation of livelihoods, climate-smart agriculture, and market linkage activities at the Upazila level. This role ensures effective coordination with community groups, Self-Help Groups (SHGs), Village Savings and Loan Schemes (VSLS), Aggregation Centers (ACs), and local stakeholders, while supporting income-generating activities and strengthening supply chains.

Project Implementation & Field Coordination

  • Oversee implementation of project activities at the Upazila level, including ACs, ABSCs, community grain storage, SHGs, VSLS, and FFS.

  • Ensure timely supply of off-farm products, fresh food, and agricultural commodities to FFC/E-voucher shops and EFSN shops.

  • Coordinate with private and public agencies for input support and linkages with ACs and SHGs to initiate income-generating activities.

Capacity Building & Technical Support

  • Provide technical and management support to SHG businesses, IIGAs, and project staff.

  • Conduct training, GIGA and IIGA sessions, and support the reactivation of SHG businesses to ensure alignment with project goals.

  • Monitor demo plots, nurseries, and lead farmers for climate-smart agriculture adoption.

Stakeholder Engagement & Market Linkages

  • Facilitate team meetings and collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve project milestones.

  • Coordinate with Upazila-level government officials, local authorities, and community leaders for smooth project execution.

  • Support market linkage activities, ensuring producers and buyers are effectively connected for quality products.

Reporting & Monitoring  

  • Conduct regular field visits to assess project implementation, identify gaps, and provide guidance to Project Officers and community groups

  • Prepare timely progress reports, including quantitative indicators, qualitative insights, and recommendations for adaptive management.

  • Prepare internal and external reports on project progress, achievements, and challenges.

Safeguarding:

  • Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme's goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.

  • Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.

  • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.
