∎ Master's in social sciences
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Management and quality control of a small team of Participatory Facilitators and Documenters
∎ Developing an integrated cross workstream plan for participatory facilitation for the programme in Bangladesh (with the country coordinator)
∎ Ensuring the delivery of timely reports on action research and participatory process results
∎ Liaising with IDS and the consortium children's agency (thematic) group to ensure that the methodological approach designed for their country is effectively implemented
∎ Process design and facilitation of Action Research groups and other participatory processes
∎ Designing participatory methods for different stakeholder groups within the broadly defined Action Research process of this programme - in consultation with the country coordinator and Workstream (thematic) leads
∎ Working with the safeguarding officer to assess risks and local mitigation (e.g. referral resources) relating to participatory processes
∎ Assess support needs (language, support for disabled people etc.) in relation to participatory processes) -with the country coordinator
∎ Defining documentation protocols and ensuring quality in relation to documentation of all participatory meetings
∎ Training/ capacity development/ mentoring of other staff involved in the project on participatory approaches
∎ Supporting the Country Coordinator as appropriate in programme advocacy around increased participatory and community-based approaches being employed at the country level
∎ Regular reporting on the action research and participatory processes in line with the programme's MEL framework - in collaboration with the MEL focal point.
Additional Requirements:
∎ At least 3 years' Experience of facilitating action research processes
∎ 5 years' experience of staff management and supervision
∎ Demonstrated experience of ensuring the proper representation of the voices of highly marginalized people and the least powerful (in groups)
∎ Experience of developing programme Implementation plans
∎ Demonstrated experience of employing a rights-based approach
∎ Demonstrated experience of working with hidden and vulnerable populations
∎ Experience of community development in urban slums
∎ Familiarity with a range of participatory process tools and approaches
∎ Experience of overseeing and implementing child led participatory processes
∎ Experience and knowledge of safeguarding and risk assessment with vulnerable and marginal groups
∎ Experience in research methods, using both qualitative and quantitative methods
∎ Practical experience in knowledge management within a non-profit organization
∎ Documentation skills and ability to support local communities to document their own process
∎ Familiar with social protection systems and actors in Dhaka;
∎ Experience in setting up and managing household and individual level coaching or case management interventions;
∎ Solid experience in managing community empowerment projects;
∎ Proven experience in working with marginalized and disadvantaged communities; preferably in urban slums.
∎ Good knowledge of and experience using participatory methods with marginalized and disadvantaged communities and children;
∎ Demonstrable competencies in the use of community facilitation/mobilization approaches and techniques;
∎ Experience in building the capacity and mentoring of community facilitators / mobilisers;
∎ Experience in monitoring and reporting on community projects;
∎ Experience in managing budgets, including monitoring expenditure;
∎ Experience in Participatory Action Research is highly desirable.
∎ Excellent planning and coordination skills;
∎ Politically and culturally sensitive with qualities of patience, tact and diplomacy;
∎ Fluency in Bangla and a high level of written and spoken English;
∎ Good teamworking and interdepartmental collaboration skills;
∎ Excellent skills in Microsoft office;
