In Bangladesh, Helen Keller Intl has a strong history of partnership with the Government of Bangladesh and development partners to strengthen systems and improve outcomes in nutrition, eye health, WASH, and livelihoods. Helen Keller’s programs prioritize remote, hard-to-reach, and marginalized communities, including those in the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT).
PROJECT OVERVIEW
The Project “Access to and Utilization of Lifesaving Services by Access to and Utilization of Lifesaving Services by Marginalized Communities in Chittagong Hill Tracts in Bangladesh” seeks to restore and scale up essential nutrition, WASH and livelihood services in the three hill districts — Bandarban, Rangamati and Khagrachari. The project focuses on enhancing community resilience, ensuring that marginalized ethnic and rural populations have equitable access to lifesaving interventions and strengthening local systems for sustainable service delivery.
Key Interventions:
- Mass screening of children aged 6–59 months for early detection of acute malnutrition
- Management of Severe and Moderate Acute Malnutrition (SAM/MAM) through 26 SAM Units at district and upazila health facilities
- Emergency nutritious food and cash-based livelihood support to nutritionally vulnerable households
- Expansion of sustainable safe water and sanitation infrastructure
- Capacity strengthening of government health service providers effective service delivery
Helen Keller Intl will lead this project, working closely with technical and implementing partners and government stakeholders to ensure coordinated, high-impact programming across the three CHT districts.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Nutrition Manager will provide technical leadership, strategic guidance, and quality assurance for all nutrition components of the PRO CHT Project. The position will ensure that all nutrition interventions — including community screening, facility-based treatment, and behavior change communication — are designed and delivered according to national protocols and Helen Keller Intl standards.
The incumbent will lead planning, implementation, supervision, and monitoring of all nutrition-related activities, and will work closely with government counterparts, implementing partners, and the project MEAL team to ensure the achievement of nutrition outcomes.

SUPERVISES: Nutrition Specialist
1. Technical Leadership and Quality Assuranc
- Provide overall technical direction for all nutrition components, including SAM/MAM management, IYCF, and micronutrient interventions.
- Develop and update technical guidelines, training materials, and supervision tools in line with the national Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition (IMAM) and National Nutrition Services (NNS) protocols.
- Ensure quality assurance across 26 SAM units through regular field supervision, on-site mentoring, and performance monitoring.
- Lead the design and implementation of community-based nutrition promotion campaigns, including counseling, cooking demonstrations, and hygiene promotion.
- Ensure that nutrition interventions are gender-sensitive, inclusive, and culturally appropriate to the multi-ethnic CHT context.
2. Capacity Building and Mentorship
- Lead the capacity strengthening of health service providers and community volunteers on growth monitoring, screening, referral, and case management.
- Train and mentor 1,300+ government and project health workers in SAM/MAM management, IYCF counseling, and data recording/reporting.
- Support development of a nutrition mentorship and supportive supervision plan for upazila and union-level actors.
- Facilitate joint training sessions with government agencies (DGHS, IPHN, NNS) to ensure institutional capacity retention.
3. Program Planning and Implementation
- Support the Team Leader in developing annual and quarterly implementation plans for the nutrition component.
- Oversee logistics and supply planning for therapeutic foods, anthropometric equipment, and nutrition commodities.
- Ensure timely implementation of screening, treatment, and follow-up of SAM/MAM cases.
- Coordinate the organization of community nutrition events and cross-sectoral outreach activities (nutrition–WASH–livelihoods integration).
- Ensure integration of nutrition messaging in livelihood and WASH interventions.
4. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning
- Work closely with the MEAL team to design and apply nutrition indicators, data collection tools, and reporting templates.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting on key performance indicators (e.g., number of children screened, SAM cure rates, coverage rates).
- Review data regularly to identify performance gaps, recommend corrective actions, and ensure data quality.
- Document lessons learned, best practices, and success stories to inform adaptive programming.
5. Partnership and Coordination
- Serve as the nutrition focal point for coordination with technical and implementing partners.
- Work collaboratively with local health authorities, DPHE, MoCHTA, and NGOs working on nutrition in CHT.
- Represent the project in district-level Nutrition Coordination Committees and sectoral platforms.
- Ensure alignment of project nutrition interventions with government priorities and other partner efforts in the region.
6. Management and Supervision
- Ensure regular communication, performance monitoring, and coaching for field teams.
- Promote teamwork, learning, and adherence to Helen Keller’s values of inclusiveness, transparency, and respect.
- Participate in project management and coordination meetings, contributing technical insights and recommendations.
