• Bachelor’s degree in Apparel Merchandising, Textile Technology, Business Administration, or a related field from a reputed institution

• Experience handling specific categories (Woven, Knit, Sweater) is often required depending on the brand

• Deep understanding of garment manufacturing, construction, fabrication, trims, and print techniques

• Strong ability to analyze sales reports, market surveys, and production data

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Bengali and English

• Strong presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills

• Ability to drive, motivate, and engage a team

• Lead product development from initial proto samples to final production, ensuring alignment with design specifications

• Source and develop new factories, yarns, fabrics, and trims. Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers

• Conduct market intelligence to identify customer preferences, fashion trends, and competitor activities to inform buying decisions

• Prepare detailed cost sheets, negotiate pricing with vendors, and suggest cost-saving alternatives to maximize margins while maintaining quality

• Manage budgets for assigned categories and monitor expenditures

• Monitor the sampling process (lab dips, bulk fabric, PP samples) and ensure timely approvals with the Quality Assurance (QA) team

• Book production capacity with factories in advance and maintain capacity utilization charts

• Coordinate with the production and QA teams to resolve technical issues during the manufacturing process (e.g., knitting, construction, finishing)

• Identify and diagnose production problems, implementing corrective actions with suppliers

• Serve as the primary point of contact for buyers (local or international) and internal teams (Design, Marketing, Supply Chain)

• Ensure timely and clear communication regarding order status, delays, and critical path management

• Lead, mentor, and motivate junior merchandisers or assistants

• Ensure compliance with buyer requirements, ethical sourcing standards, and company policies

• Oversee documentation for shipments and coordinate with the commercial department for LCs and payments
