Experience:
Master's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Management, or a related discipline.
Professional certifications such as APICS CSCP, CLTD, CILT, PMP, Lean Six Sigma, or CSCMP will be considered an added advantage.
12–15 years of progressive experience in Logistics, Transportation, Fleet Management, Supply Chain, or Corporate Operations within a large manufacturing or export-oriented organization.
Minimum 5 years of experience in a senior managerial or leadership role.
Proven experience managing multi-location logistics operations, transportation networks, logistics service providers, and fleet operations.
Strong exposure to project logistics, warehouse coordination, vendor management, and logistics process optimization.
Experience with ERP-based logistics systems and digital transformation initiatives will be highly preferred.
Job Purpose
The Senior Manager / AGM – Logistics is responsible for providing strategic leadership and operational oversight of the Group's logistics function to ensure seamless, cost-effective, and efficient movement of raw materials, finished goods, machinery, equipment, spare parts, and other business-critical assets across all Strategic Business Units (SBUs). The incumbent will lead transportation operations, fleet management, warehouse coordination, project logistics, import and export logistics coordination, vendor management, logistics governance, and continuous improvement initiatives to support business growth, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities & Context
1. Logistics Strategy & Operations
Develop and implement the Group's logistics strategy aligned with corporate objectives and operational requirements.
Lead and optimize end-to-end logistics operations to ensure efficient movement of materials, products, machinery, and business assets.
Ensure uninterrupted logistics support for manufacturing, engineering, procurement, commercial, and project operations.
Drive logistics transformation initiatives through process improvement, automation, and digitalisation.
2. Transportation & Fleet Management
Oversee company-owned and outsourced commercial vehicles to ensure optimum utilization, operational efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
Develop transportation plans and routing strategies to support factory operations, warehouses, project sites, and customer requirements.
Coordinate inter-factory and factory-to-warehouse transportation activities.
Implement GPS-based fleet monitoring systems to improve visibility, vehicle utilization, route optimization, and fuel efficiency.
Develop preventive maintenance programmes to maximise fleet reliability and minimise operational downtime.
Ensure compliance with statutory requirements relating to vehicle registration, fitness, insurance, permits, and transport regulations.
Monitor transportation KPIs and implement corrective actions to improve service levels.
3. Import & Export Logistics Coordination
Coordinate import and export logistics activities in collaboration with the Commercial Department.
Liaise with freight forwarders, shipping lines, airlines, C&F agents, customs authorities, ports, and logistics service providers.
Monitor shipment schedules, container utilization, freight performance, and logistics lead times.
Ensure timely movement of imported machinery, spare parts, and strategic materials.
Resolve logistics bottlenecks affecting import and export operations.
4. Warehouse & Distribution Coordination
Coordinate logistics activities with warehouse teams to ensure efficient material movement and dispatch operations.
Improve warehouse-to-transport coordination to reduce turnaround time and improve operational efficiency.
Ensure safe loading, unloading, transportation, and delivery of materials and equipment.
Support inventory movement planning and distribution activities across business units.
5. Project & Operational Logistics
Plan and coordinate logistics support for new factory setup, expansion, relocation, and commissioning projects.
Manage logistics for machinery installation, capital equipment movement, and engineering projects.
Coordinate transportation of oversized, specialised, or high-value equipment where required.
Support emergency logistics requirements to ensure business continuity.
6. Vendor & Contract Management
Develop and manage strategic relationships with transport contractors, freight forwarders, C&F agents, logistics service providers, fuel suppliers, and maintenance vendors.
Lead commercial negotiations and manage logistics contracts to ensure competitive pricing and service excellence.
Monitor vendor performance against Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Conduct periodic vendor evaluations and implement supplier development initiatives.
7. Budget Management & Cost Optimization
Prepare and manage the annual logistics budget.
Monitor transportation costs, fleet operating expenses, fuel consumption, maintenance costs, and logistics expenditure.
Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives while maintaining operational efficiency and service quality.
Improve fleet utilization and logistics productivity through data-driven decision-making.
Prepare periodic logistics performance reports and management dashboards.
8. Compliance, Risk Management & Safety
Ensure compliance with applicable transport regulations, customs requirements, company policies, and industry standards.
Maintain all statutory documentation related to logistics operations and commercial vehicles.
Promote safe logistics operations and ensure compliance with occupational health, safety, and environmental standards.
Investigate logistics incidents and implement preventive and corrective actions.
Develop logistics contingency and business continuity plans.
9. Digital Transformation & Process Improvement
Lead implementation of ERP-enabled logistics processes and logistics management systems.
Develop logistics dashboards and performance analytics for management reporting.
Utilize AI, GPS tracking, and digital technologies to improve operational efficiency and decision-making.
Drive Lean Logistics initiatives and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
10. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Collaborate closely with Commercial, Supply Chain, Procurement, Manufacturing, Engineering, Finance, Warehouse, Security, and Factory Management teams.
Ensure logistics requirements are aligned with production plans, customer commitments, procurement schedules, and project timelines.
Support strategic business initiatives through effective logistics planning and execution.
11. Leadership & People Management
Lead, mentor, and develop the logistics team to build a high-performing and service-oriented function.
Establish departmental objectives, KPIs, and performance management systems.
Identify competency gaps and implement training and development initiatives.
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Develop succession plans for key logistics positions.
