∎ Leadership skills—influencing, building relationships, and mentoring are all a big part of being an IT person, which is why leadership skills are important for the job.
∎ Critical thinking—the job requires someone who understands business functions, strategy, workflow, and decision making.
∎ Problem-solving skills—managing conflicts, risks, costs, time, and forecasting require someone who is good at fixing problems quickly.
∎ Software proficiency—having software knowledge comes in handy with most jobs and in IT it’s a necessity.
∎ Project management—it goes without say that project management skills will be of help with team management for an IT person.
∎ Programming languages—knowledge of programming languages can go a long way with any jobs that revolve around technology.
∎ Proven working experience in IT department or relevant experience.
∎ Excellent knowledge of technical management, information analysis and of computer hardware/software systems.
Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Managing the overall ICT activities of the hospital.
∎ Manage information technology and computer systems.
∎ Plan, organize, control and evaluate IT and electronic data operations.
∎ Manage IT staff by recruiting, training and coaching employees, communicating job expectations and appraising their performance.
∎ Design, develop, implement and coordinate systems, policies and procedures.
∎ Ensure security of data, network access and backup systems.
∎ Act in alignment with user needs and system functionality to contribute to organizational policy.
∎ Identify problematic areas and implement strategic solutions in time·
∎ Audit systems and assess their outcomes.
∎ Preserve assets, information security and control structures.
∎ Handle annual budget and ensure cost effectiveness.
