Responsibilities & Context:
Supervise daily operation theatre activities and ensure smooth functioning of all OT procedures.
Prepare OT schedules in coordination with surgeons, anesthetists, and relevant departments.
Ensure proper OT preparation before surgical procedures.
Monitor OT utilization, workflow, and patient movement.
Ensure availability of surgical instruments, medicines, consumables, and emergency equipment.
Supervise OT nurses, technicians, attendants, and support staff.
Allocate duties and monitor staff performance, discipline, and punctuality.
Conduct orientation and on-job training for OT staff.
Maintain effective coordination among surgeons, anesthetists, CSSD, ICU, wards, and other departments.
Ensure adequate staffing during emergency and critical surgeries.
Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control protocols.
Maintain strict aseptic and sterilization standards inside OT complex.
Ensure proper patient identification, consent verification, and surgical safety checklist compliance.
Monitor implementation of hospital policies, nursing standards, and patient safety guidelines.
Investigate and report OT incidents, errors, or safety concerns to management.
Monitor OT inventory, stock levels, and equipment maintenance.
Ensure proper handling and storage of surgical instruments and supplies.
Coordinate with biomedical and maintenance departments for timely repair and servicing of OT equipment.
Verify and maintain emergency equipment readiness at all times.
Maintain OT records, surgery logs, staff attendance, and departmental reports.
Prepare monthly departmental reports and submit to management when required.
Ensure accurate documentation of OT procedures and incidents.
Monitor compliance with legal, accreditation, and regulatory requirements.
Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical standards.
Ensure proper biomedical waste management practices.
Participate in hospital meetings, audits, drills, and quality improvement activities.
Support hospital accreditation and compliance initiatives.
Perform additional responsibilities assigned by management when necessary.
