Education:
    • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery(MBBS)

Mandatory valid BMDC (Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council) registration.

Completed 1-year mandatory internship.

Candidates with FCPS (Part 1/2), Diploma, MD/MS, or specialized clinical training (e.g., CCD, PGT) will receive preference.

At least 3 years of post-internship clinical experience in a hospital, diagnostic center, or clinic.

Responsibilities & Context:

The Senior Medical Officer (SMO) will work in a fast-paced tertiary hospital environment. The position involves providing medical coverage during assigned duty hours (including rotational shifts, nights, weekends, and public holidays). The SMO is expected to lead initial emergency responses, manage inpatient wards, supervise junior duty doctors and clinical staff, and ensure seamless coordination with attending consultants.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assess and manage acute and routine clinical conditions for both inpatient (IPD) and outpatient/emergency patients.

  • Conduct detailed patient histories, perform thorough physical examinations, and execute treatment plans.

  • Provide immediate emergency care, resuscitation, and stabilization for critical patients.

  • Prescribe appropriate medications, diagnostic tests, and treatment interventions in line with clinical guidelines.

  • Continuously monitor patient conditions and immediately escalate deteriorating cases to respective Consultants/Specialists.

  • Lead smooth handovers during shift changes, ensuring complete transmission of clinical information and critical updates.

  • Maintain accurate, timely patient documentation, clinical notes, discharge summaries, and prescriptions.

  • Coordinate effectively with nursing staff, diagnostic departments, and specialists for seamless patient care.

  • Adhere strictly to hospital infection control policies, medical ethics, and safety protocols.

  • Communicate clearly and empathetically with patients and their families regarding medical conditions and management plans.
