Experience:
MBBS degree from a recognized medical college/university.
Valid BMDC registration is mandatory.
Completed one-year internship with relevant clinical exposure.
Candidates with FCPS/MD/Diploma or other postgraduate qualifications in a relevant medical specialty will be preferred.
The Duty Doctor will be responsible for providing timely, safe, and patient-centered medical care during assigned shifts. The position requires effective clinical decision-making, proper patient assessment, coordination with nurses and other healthcare professionals, and prompt management of emergencies.
Key Responsibilities:
Assess and manage patients presenting with acute and routine medical conditions.
Take patient history, perform physical examinations, and develop appropriate treatment plans.
Provide immediate medical care and stabilization during emergencies.
Prescribe medications and investigations appropriately in accordance with clinical guidelines.
Monitor patients’ clinical conditions and identify any deterioration requiring escalation.
Coordinate with consultants, specialists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals for patient management.
Maintain accurate and timely patient records, clinical notes, prescriptions, and reports.
Ensure proper handover of patients and important clinical information between shifts.
Follow hospital/clinic policies, infection-control procedures, and professional medical standards.
Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients and attendants regarding diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up.
Participate in patient referrals, admissions, discharges, and follow-up arrangements as required.
Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional ethics at all times.
Support quality improvement, patient-safety, and other clinical activities of the organization.
Job Context:
The Duty Doctor will work in a clinical/hospital environment and will be responsible for providing medical coverage during assigned duty hours, including shifts, nights, weekends, and public holidays when required. The role involves working under pressure, handling multiple patients, responding to emergencies, and maintaining high standards of patient care and professional conduct.
