Job Context

Rahman Group of Industries is a diversified industrial group in Rajshahi, with interests in jute spinning, cold storage, agro-commodities and transport. The Group is presently installing rooftop solar photovoltaic plants totalling approximately 5,100 kWp across seven of its industrial facilities, under a single turnkey EPC contract, with net metering to the national grid.

We are looking for an experienced electrical engineer to act as the Group's own technical authority on this programme. The role is purely technical. The successful candidate will supervise the EPC contractor's work on site, verify that what is installed matches the approved design and specification, witness all testing and commissioning, and afterwards take charge of operating and maintaining the plants and keeping their generation at the guaranteed level.

This is a permanent position. After the solar plants are commissioned, the role continues as the Group's in-house electrical engineer, responsible for the solar assets together with the electrical installations of the cold stores and spinning mills.

Job Responsibilities

A.  During installation and commissioning

•   Represent the Group on site during the installation of rooftop solar plants and act as its technical focal point with the EPC contractor.

•   Check incoming materials against the approved technical specification — modules, inverters, DC and AC cable, mounting structure, cable tray, protection devices — and record and report any deviation in make, model, rating or quantity.

•   Review and comment on the contractor's shop drawings, single line diagrams, string layouts, earthing and lightning protection drawings, structural layouts and cable schedules before work proceeds.

•   Supervise day-to-day workmanship: module mounting and clamping, structure anchoring and roof waterproofing, DC string routing and labelling, cable tray installation, inverter mounting, earthing continuity and surge protection.

•   Witness and record all pre-commissioning and commissioning tests, including insulation resistance, earth resistance, string open-circuit voltage and polarity, inverter parameter settings, protection settings and relay coordination.

•   Attend the metering and net-metering inspection by the distribution utility and by SREDA.

•   Verify plant performance at commissioning against the contracted Performance Ratio, review the measured data, and report the findings to management in writing.

•   Prepare and maintain a complete technical dossier for each site — approved drawings, as-built drawings, test records, equipment serial numbers, warranty certificates, O&M manuals and commissioning reports.

•   Maintain a site-by-site defect and snag register during construction and confirm in writing when each item has been rectified.

B.  After commissioning — operations and maintenance

•   Take technical charge of all plants and be accountable for their availability and generation.

•   Monitor generation daily through the plant monitoring portal and data loggers; investigate underperformance at string, inverter and plant level and establish the cause.

•   Prepare monthly generation and performance reports comparing actual output against the design estimate and the guaranteed Performance Ratio, with reasons for any shortfall.

•   Plan and supervise preventive maintenance — module cleaning cycles, thermal inspection of joints and terminations, torque checks, inverter servicing, earthing tests, structure inspection and drainage clearance.

•   Attend to breakdowns, carry out first-line fault diagnosis, and raise and pursue warranty claims with the EPC contractor and the equipment manufacturers within the warranty periods.

•   Train and supervise the site technicians and cleaning crew, and prepare simple written operating procedures for them.

C.  General electrical responsibility for the Group

•   Monitor power factor, energy consumption and demand, and identify practical measures to reduce electricity cost.

•   Keep statutory electrical inspections, licences and certificates current, and liaise with the distribution utility on load, metering and supply matters.
