Job Context:
∎ We are looking for Senior Engineer - Geospatial to add geospatial processing expertise to our software engineering team.
∎ The Senior Software Engineer, Geospatial will play a key role in designing and building efficient, scalable, and performant products and services in support of GIM`s transportation optimization platform. Your expertise in geospatial processing will help us find locations efficiently, figure out the optimal route under various conditions and find matches based on real-time geolocation data.
∎ You will be joining a small, cross-functional team of data scientists and engineers, within which you will own much of the technical decision-making. The team will look to you for guidance on architectural design, pipeline development, and deployment of geospatial technology-related products.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Work in a cross-functional group of data scientists and engineers to build geospatial functionality and services.
∎ Translate business requirements into geospatial requirements and implement the corresponding functional parts
∎ Review and recommend appropriate technologies, processe and best practices for geospatial processing needs
∎ Recommend novel ideas to leverage geospatial processing to create competitive advantage
∎ Constantly learn from and educate others to improve yourself and the project.
Additional Requirements:
∎ 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer or related role with focus on Geospatial processing.
∎ Experience with operational systems and devops.
∎ Prior experience working with geospatial data and gis operations.
∎
∎ Strong and proven computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, programming languages, distributed systems, databases, and data management.
∎ Strong understanding of geospatial processing, routing, mapping, geospatial optimization
∎ Spatial/Relational Database Proficiency, e.g., Postgres/PostGIS, Snowflake, Google Maps API,
∎ Ability to break technical solutions into modules of manageable development stories.
∎ Experience with Java, Scala, Python or other similar programming languages
∎ Experience with CI/CD and automated testing.
∎ Familiarity with AWS is a strong plus
∎ A passion for mentoring others and sharing your knowledge.
∎ Thrives in a fast paced, agile development environment.
∎ Strives to create fast, reliable, testable, and documented code that others can understand.
∎ Brings a positive attitude and a sense of humor.
