Responsibilities & Context:

Position Summary

Mars Freight Bangladesh Ltd. is seeking a competent Sea Operations Officer / Executive for its Chattogram office. The role involves handling sea freight import & export operations, with special focus on IGM submission, amendment, and coordination with port and customs authorities.

Job Responsibilities

  • Handle sea freight Import & Export operations

  • Prepare, submit, and manage IGM (Import General Manifest) through ASYCUDA World

  • Coordinate IGM amendment, correction, and follow-up with Customs, Shipping Lines, and Port Authority

  • Communicate with shipping lines, agents, freight forwarders, and overseas partners

  • Prepare, collect, issue, and follow up on SO (Shipping Order) with shipping lines

  • Prepare, submit, and coordinate SI (Shipping Instruction) with shipping lines and co-loaders

  • Collect, submit, and ensure timely VGM (Verified Gross Mass) as per SOLAS regulation

  • Collect freight rates, local charges, and schedules from shipping lines and co-loaders

  • Maintain and update rate sheets and share rates with sales/customer service teams

  • Shipment booking with shipping lines

  • Coordinate SO-related matters with exporters, C&F agents, and port authorities

  • Prepare and verify shipping documents (BL, Invoice, Packing List, DO, Arrival Notice, etc.)

  • Monitor vessel schedules, ETA/ETD, and cargo status

  • Ensure timely customs clearance and delivery coordination

  • Maintain proper operational files, reports, and records

  • Ensure compliance with Customs Act, Port Rules, and company SOP
