Experience:

• Master`s Degree in Environmental Engineering or an equivalent field from a reputable institute.

• At least 10 years

• Age At least 35 years

Experience Requirements:

• Minimum 10 years of experience in handling safeguard matters; experience of handling Health & Safety matters is also required.

• Experience of at least 2 projects related to Vaccines, therapeutics, and diagnostics (VTD) / industrial / chemical / pharmaceutical projects or VTD training centres will be preferred.

• Experience on a foreign-aided / externally-financed development project will be an added advantage.

Additional Requirements:

• The applicants should have experience in the following area(s): Environmental & social safeguards, EHS, EIA/EMP, resettlement, gender, occupational health & safety, waste management.

• Fluency in English (written and spoken) and computer literacy are required.

• The position is offered on a contractual basis with intermittent inputs (measured in person-months) over the project period.

• Assist the Team Leader in all safeguard matters — Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS), Resettlement, Gender and Fire-related.

• Assist in preparing EHS details for bidding purposes.

• Review safeguard reports (EIA / EMP / Resettlement / Gender Action / Safety / Health protection) submitted by the EPC contractor and support compliance monitoring and guiding corrective measures.

• Prepare periodic Safeguard Compliance reports as part of project reporting.

• Review compliance documents demonstrating adherence to local, national and international environmental regulations and standards.

• Evaluate the site`s environmental conditions, including soil, water and existing flora and fauna.

• Review and monitor compliance for handling, storing and disposing of hazardous and non-hazardous waste generated during execution and operation.

• Identify and analyze potential environmental risks and how to mitigate them.

• Review the contractor`s practices to promote sustainability (energy use, resource conservation, lifecycle assessments).

• Any other relevant safeguard-related activity.
