Experience:
Postgraduate training/certification in Diagnostic Ultrasonography/Sonology.
DMU/ADMU/CMU.
Training in Fetal Anomaly Scan, Thyroid Ultrasound, Breast Ultrasound, and Musculoskeletal Ultrasound will be considered an added advantage.
FCPS Part-I / MD / MS or equivalent postgraduate training will be considered an added advantage.

The RMO Cum Sonologist is responsible for providing comprehensive medical care to patients in the Emergency Department, Outpatient Department (OPD), and Inpatient Wards while independently performing high-quality diagnostic ultrasonography examinations and reporting. The role requires clinical decision-making, emergency management, patient monitoring, diagnostic imaging, and close coordination with consultants to ensure safe, ethical, and evidence-based patient care..
Key Responsibilities:
Emergency & Patient Management
Perform primary assessment, diagnosis, and stabilization of patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
Provide immediate emergency management and basic life-saving interventions for critically ill patients.
Admit, observe, or refer patients based on clinical findings and consultant recommendations.
Manage medical emergencies according to national treatment guidelines and hospital protocols.
OPD & Inpatient Care
Provide consultation to OPD patients and ensure appropriate treatment and follow-up.
Conduct daily ward rounds and monitor admitted patients in coordination with consultants.
Prepare admission notes, progress notes, referral notes, and discharge summaries.
Ensure continuity of medical care during duty hours.
Diagnostic Ultrasonography Services
Perform routine and emergency ultrasonography examinations independently.
Conduct abdominal, pelvic, obstetric, gynecological, breast, thyroid, scrotal, soft tissue, musculoskeletal, vascular, and small parts ultrasound examinations.
Perform Colour Doppler studies where indicated.
Ensure high-quality image acquisition and accurate documentation.
Obstetric & Gynecological Imaging
Perform first, second, and third trimester obstetric ultrasound examinations.
Assess fetal growth, fetal biometry, fetal wellbeing, placental localization, liquor volume, and fetal presentation.
Detect congenital anomalies and identify high-risk pregnancy findings.
Perform transabdominal and transvaginal ultrasound examinations where appropriate.
Reporting & Clinical Support
Interpret ultrasound findings and prepare accurate diagnostic reports.
Immediately communicate urgent or critical findings to the treating consultant.
Request and review laboratory and imaging investigations relevant to patient management.
Prescribe medications according to consultant advice and national clinical protocols.
Clinical Procedures
Perform routine bedside procedures including wound care, suturing, catheterization, nasogastric tube insertion, oxygen therapy, and basic airway management.
Provide Basic Life Support (BLS) during emergency situations.
Patient Communication
Explain diagnoses, ultrasound findings, treatment plans, and prognosis clearly and compassionately.
Maintain patient confidentiality, informed consent, and professional ethics.
Ensure patient comfort throughout medical consultations and ultrasound examinations.
Coordination & Teamwork
Coordinate with consultants, nursing staff, laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, and hospital administration.
Participate in clinical meetings, mortality reviews, audits, and Continuing Medical Education (CME) activities.
Infection Prevention & Quality Assurance
Follow Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) protocols during all clinical and ultrasound procedures.
Ensure proper maintenance and safe operation of ultrasound equipment.
Maintain complete and accurate medical records, ultrasound reports, and hospital documentation.
