Job Context:
∎ HI has been working in Bangladesh since 1997, with a focus on creating sustainable changes in terms of ensuring the rights and inclusion of people with disabilities in society. HI is an independent and impartial aid organization working in situations of poverty, exclusion, conflict, and disaster throughout Bangladesh. With projects in different districts of the country, HI works not only with people with disabilities and other vulnerable populations, but also with their families, their communities, and local humanitarian actors in order to respond to their essential needs, improve their living conditions, promote respect for their dignity and fundamental rights, and provide sustainability in its action. As one of the key organizations in the disability sector, HI has a wide range of projects which assist to promote the inclusion of persons with disabilities and their issues in emergency and development contexts, build capacities of local stakeholders, and reduce the impact of natural and human-made disasters. Particularly in Cox`s Bazar district, HI is providing services in rehabilitation, MH/PSS, SRH, protection and inclusive education with an inclusion mainstreaming approach to refugees and host population affected by the forcibly displaced undocumented Myanmar nationals. HI`s multi-sectoral mobile units (MU) and static approach are currently working in 15 camps located in both Teknaf and Ukhiya Upazilas and surrounding host areas providing comprehensive services in physical rehabilitation, primary health care, protection, and MH/PSS.
∎ HI is currently implementing development and humanitarian response project in Kurigram, Sitakindu, and Cox`s Bazar district through 4 project offices (Kurigram, Sitakundu, Ukhiya, and Teknaf) and 2 coordination offices( Dhaka and Cox Bazar).
∎ Operational Thematic: Livelihood, Health and Rehabilitation, Protection, Inclusion, Education and Atlas Logistic
∎ Number of staffs: Around 283 National staffs and 9 international staffs
∎ Under the operational supervision of the program manager mobile and Senior Technical Officer, The rehabilitation officer provides inpatient and outpatient physical and functional rehabilitation services at Sadar District Hospital.
∎ Job Location: Teknaf, Cox`s Bazar
∎ Line Manager: Project Manager-Rehabilitation
∎ Type of Contract: Fixed-term
∎ Duration of the Contract: From as early as possible to 31 August 2021 with the possibility of an extension

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Objective-1: Provision of Physical and Functional Rehabilitation
∎ Work with patients who have a range of conditions, including neurological, neuromuscular skeletal, cardiovascular, and respiratory, sometimes over weeks.
∎ Diagnose, assess and treat their physical problem/condition
∎ Keep up to date with new techniques and technologies available for treating patients.
∎ Develop and review the treatment plan.
∎ Involve parents and carers in the treatment, review, and rehabilitation of patients.
∎ Educate patients and their carers about how to prevent and/or improve their conditions.
∎ Contributes to physical rehabilitation effectiveness by identifying patient care issues; providing information and commentary; recommending options and courses of action; implementing physical therapy directives.
∎ Manage clinical risk(red flag)
∎ Instruct and counsel patients by describing therapeutic regimens; giving normal growth and development information; promoting wellness and health maintenance.
∎ Assess need for assistive devices and specific items and provide when necessary
∎ Objective-2: Accountability, Reporting, and Documentation
∎ Update the line manager and the management on the activities of the hospital in terms of rehabilitations gaps.
∎ Ensure beneficiaries sign a necessary document during the donation of the device and specific items.
∎ Write patient case notes and reports and collect statistics.
∎ Be responsible and accountable.
∎ Be caring, compassionate, and professional at all times.
∎ Share weekly and monthly report with the line manager
∎ Ensure the documentation of patient care services
∎ Ensure good communication and maintain rapport with the beneficiaries.
∎ Objective-3: Internal and External Coordination
∎ Liaise with other healthcare professionals, such as GPs and Nurses, to exchange information about the background and progress of patients, as well as to refer patients who require other medical attention
∎ Refer the patient to other supporting partners within or outside the hospital and follow up the referral
∎ Participate in weekly major ward rounds and update other health workers on the progress of the patients.
∎ Maintain close coordination with the Hospital administration.
∎ Participate in weekly internal/external coordination meetings.
∎ Provide necessary details and link for follow-up after discharge with other Rehabilitation Officers from the mobile team and other Upazilla hospitals.
∎ Be the focal person for referrals to other organizations and Hospital departments.
∎ Objective-4: Management, Training and Capacity Building
∎ Technically supervise, coach, and mentor HI Rehabilitation Assistant(s).
∎ Support in capacity building health workers through the presentation of assigned topics and constant support the organization of the training with the Project Manager and the Technical Senior Officer.
∎ After theory training, provide technical advice and on the job training for medical staff in health facilities
∎ Support any other duties requested by the line manager.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Age at least 21 years
∎ Minimum 02 years of relevant experience
∎ Be Registered with the local Association
∎ Previous experience with an INGO is a strong asset
∎ Computer knowledge (MS office package- both in English and Bangla)
∎ Experience in the humanitarian context, preferably in the field of rehabilitation and/or disaster risk management is preferable;
∎ Knowledge of disability and development issues in Bangladesh;
∎ Communication skills in both verbal and written Bangla are necessary
∎ Strong teamwork approach
∎ Knowledge of Chittagonian and/or Rohingya languages a strong asset
∎ Knowledge in sign language is an asset
∎ Sensitized on issues related to child protection, protection of gender-based violence, etc.

Salary:
∎ Tk. 55654 - 58993 (Monthly)
∎ Hardship Allowance will be added in addition to working in Cox`s Bazar District.
