  • Minimum 6 years’ experience in the relevant field

  • Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on technical experience using QGIS in professional settings

  • Ability to teach advanced GIS topics including automation with PyQGIS, field data collection via QField/ KoBo/ ODK, spatial modeling with large-scale raster analysis, and GPS data processing

  • Prior GIS experience in humanitarian, development, MEAL, DRR, health, WASH, environment, or urban planning contexts

  • Proven ability to translate GIS concepts into practical applications including service coverage mapping, hotspot analysis, route optimization, needs assessment mapping, monitoring and evaluation dashboards, and spatial data quality control and standardization

  • Prior experience conducting training on QGIS or related GIS tools

  • Ability to design interactive, practice-based sessions with hands-on exercises

  • Clear communication style suitable for participants with mixed skill levels

  • Capability to provide step-by-step guidance, troubleshoot errors, and support participants individually

  • Ability to develop comprehensive training modules with structured agendas, clear learning objectives, sample datasets, practical exercises tailored to participant organizations, and robust pre/post evaluation tools

  • Ability to ensure software and hardware readiness through proper QGIS installation, cross-OS compatibility, availability of offline packages and datasets and provision of backup and troubleshooting materials

  • Experience integrating QGIS with KoBo Toolbox, ODK/Survey CTO, Power BI, ArcGIS or QGIS Online, and GPS devices for seamless data collection, analysis, and visualization

  • Familiarity with satellite imagery (Sentinel, Landsat) and open data portals (HDX, OpenStreetMap)

Specific Educational Qualification

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Geography, GIS, Environmental Science, Urban Planning, Disaster Management, Computer Science, or related fields

Certification

  • Certifications in GIS, Remote Sensing or QGIS training (optional but preferred)

Purpose of the role

To strengthen the capacity of IRC MEAL and Program staff in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to effectively collect, manage, analyze, and visualize geographic data.

Work Location: IRC Cox’s Bazar Office

Reporting to: Head of MEAL and Program Quality

Consultancy period: 3 days

Major Responsibilities

The specific topics to be covered during the event:

  • GIS foundations, QGIS introduction, spatial data, map creation.

  • Data cleaning, GPS data collection, spatial analysis, exporting maps.

  • Visualization through GIS and GIS reporting
