Job Context:
∎ HI has been working in Bangladesh since 1997, with a focus on creating sustainable changes in terms of ensuring the rights and inclusion of people with disabilities in society. HI is an independent and impartial aid organization working in situations of poverty, exclusion, conflict, and disaster throughout Bangladesh. With projects in different districts of the country, HI works not only with people with disabilities and other vulnerable populations, but also with their families, their communities, and local humanitarian actors in order to respond to their essential needs, improve their living conditions, promote respect for their dignity and fundamental rights, and provide sustainability in its action. As one of the key organizations in the disability sector, HI has a wide range of projects which assist to promote the inclusion of persons with disabilities and their issues in emergency and development contexts, build capacities of local stakeholders, and reduce the impact of natural and human-made disasters. Particularly in Cox`s Bazar district, HI is providing services in rehabilitation, MH/PSS, SRH, protection and inclusive education with an inclusion mainstreaming approach to refugees and host population affected by the forcibly displaced undocumented Myanmar nationals. HI`s multi-sectoral mobile units (MU) and static approach are currently working in 15 camps located in both Teknaf and Ukhiya Upazilas and surrounding host areas providing comprehensive services in physical rehabilitation, primary health care, protection, and MH/PSS.
∎ HI is currently implementing development and humanitarian response project in Kurigram, Sitakindu, and Cox`s Bazar district through 4 project offices (Kurigram, Sitakundu, Ukhiya, and Teknaf) and 2 coordination offices( Dhaka and Cox Bazar).
∎ Operational Thematic: Livelihood, Health and Rehabilitation, Protection, Inclusion, Education and Atlas Logistic
∎ Number of staffs: Around 283 National staffs and 9 international staffs
∎ HI is looking for a Rehabilitation Officer (Occupational Therapist) for its "Taking successful innovation to scale-pathways for disability-inclusive graduation out of poverty" project funded by UKAID.
∎ The Rehabilitation Officer will ensure the provision of rehabilitation services to people with disabilities in Kurigram/ Sitakund to support their economic empowerment in respect of HI technical quality standards, by directly providing rehabilitation services, conducting referral and mobilizing local resources, building the capacity of community volunteers, contribution to capacity development of Disabled People`s Organizations (DPOs) and mainstreaming disability into mainstream development organizations` work, working closely with Livelihood Officers and regularly communicating and consulting with the Technical Specialist.
∎ Job Location: Sitakunda, Chittagong.
∎ Line Manager: Base Manager
∎ Type of Contract: Fixed-term
∎ Duration of the Contract: From as early as possible to 31 March 2022 with the possibility of an extension.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Objective 1: Identification of beneficiaries and linkage to services.
∎ Take part with other members of the team, and volunteers, in the identification/mobilization exercises.
∎ Support the Team in mapping the existing health services in the area.
∎ Communicate and link with other members of the team, regarding internal referrals (PSS, protection, accessibility), ensuring a comprehensive approach.
∎ Ensure external referrals and follow-up, gathering feedback on service provided for documentation.
∎ Objective 2: Provision of physical and functional rehabilitation.
∎ Support identification of people with disabilities through a household baseline survey.
∎ Conduct personalized rehabilitation assessments for target beneficiaries, including rehabilitation plans, and ensure regular updates to plans.
∎ Provide comprehensive rehabilitation service to the target beneficiaries (functional rehabilitation therapy, caregiver training on home-based rehabilitation) and ensure regular follow-up, based on a prioritization system, to beneficiaries' homes, educational institutes, and workplaces.
∎ Support provision and repair of Assistive Devices for people with disabilities, through need assessment/measurement and technical assistance related to quality production & repair, by supporting procurement processes and mobilizing community resources.
∎ In collaboration with Accessibility Advisor, identify beneficiaries with the need for household/workplace/service providers accessibility or adaptations and facilitate accessibility process, through the provision of technical support.
∎ Identify referral linkages and refer people with disabilities to basic health and specialized services, based on their needs, and participate in the roll-out and use of a referral card system.
∎ Prioritize interventions to people with severe disabilities including mental illness, intellectual disabilities, and multiple disabilities.
∎ Objective 3: Capacity Building of Community Development Workers on Rehabilitation.
∎ Capacity building of community workers on theoretical and practical skills related to rehabilitation for people with disabilities, accessibility (physical, social and institutional), inclusion, and data collection via active involvement in delivering training, workshops, and provision of continuous on-the-job support.
∎ Contribution to annual appraisals of community development workers.
∎ Objective 4: Contribute to the economic empowerment of people with Disabilities through Collaboration with Livelihood Officer.
∎ Contribute to the preparation of household/business plans in collaboration with the Livelihood Officer, based on the rehabilitation requirements of the person with a disability.
∎ Collaborate closely with the Livelihood Officer at every step of the poverty graduation process.
∎ Monitor the rehabilitation progress of the person with a disability in terms of their inclusion in employment and contribute to the re-planning of household/business plans.
∎ Objective 5: Contribute to the monitoring, data collection, and documentation processes of the project related to poverty graduation.
∎ Contribute to indicator and graduation index tracking related to the progress of beneficiaries towards graduation.
∎ Maintain and update client files related to rehabilitation assessments, plans, and progress updates, along with up-dating the beneficiary database.
∎ Contribute to the collection of case studies to monitor the progress of targeted people with disabilities.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Age at least 25 years
∎ University degree in Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy.
∎ > 2 years relevant experience.
∎ Be registered with the local Association.
∎ Previous NGO experience.
∎ Computer knowledge (MS office package- both in English and Bangla).
∎ Able to work in harsh conditions.
∎ Good physical condition.
∎ Strong teamwork approach.
∎ Communication skills in verbal and written Bangla.
∎ Knowledge of disability and development issues in Bangladesh.
∎ Sensitized on issues related to child protection, protection of gender-based violence, etc.
∎ Experienced in Humanitarian Context, preferably in the field of rehabilitation, inclusion.
∎ Experience working in a multidisciplinary context.
