Job Context:
∎ Handicap International (Humanity & Inclusion) is inviting applications from development professionals, willing to serve as a rehabilitation Assistant, to its upcoming innovative emergency project: Emergency Protection, Psychosocial support and Health services (for vulnerable population in Cox’s Bazar district, Bangladesh, 2020-2021 funded by the European Union (ECHO). The project will support the vulnerable population in Camp 26 and 24 in Cox’s Bazar district, in Bangladesh, and is a multidisciplinary project aiming at offering inclusive and specific services to persons with specific needs in the Rohingya refugee camps and host communities. This project is composed of multidisciplinary teams (MHPSS, Protection, Nurses, SRH, Rehabilitation, Community-based activities) that provides both home-based and static based services. Each project team is supervised by Team Manager and operates in a dedicated geographical areas with a community-based approach.
∎ The rehabilitation Assistant under the operational supervision of Program manager mobile, and Technical supervisor -Senior Technical Officer-Rehab and the Rehabilitation Officer provides physical and functional rehabilitation services with the mobile unit at door to door and static point.
∎ Contract Duration: Up to March 31, 2021
∎ Line Manager: Team Manager

Job Responsibilities:
∎ 1.PROVISION OF PHYSICAL AND FUNCTIONAL REHABILITATION
∎ Provide rehabilitation care with the support of Rehabilitation officer to the most critical and high priority cases according to the guidelines of HI’s emergency rehabilitation interventions
∎ Under the supervision of Rehabilitation Officer pre-screening and prioritization for accurate assessment, planning and provision of appropriate therapy to the beneficiaries. including ongoing evaluation/reassessment of the beneficiaries. within the constraints of the project resources at the fixed point, the beneficiaries’ home and where relevant.
∎ According to the outcomes of the assessment of the beneficiaries’ needs (taking into account her/his daily activities, the participation of her/his caregiver, etc.…), and consultation to Rehab officer develop an appropriate intervention and treatment plan.
∎ Ensure rehabilitation outcomes to a person should focus achieving and maintaining “OPTIMAL FUNCTIONING” in interaction with their environment, personal and outcome factors.
∎ Familiarize self with the global physical and functional rehabilitation approaches of Handicap International Federation (Humanity and Inclusion)
∎ Inform the beneficiary and the caregiver importance of rehabilitation services to improve physical situation and daily function
∎ Offer rehabilitation services based on the defined objectives between the beneficiary and the caregiver
∎ Review the most recent information on the beneficiary’s evolution before starting a treatment session and adapt your treatment or seek for technical advice from your Rehabilitation officer & STO _Rehabilitation when needed
∎ Ensure the safety of the beneficiary during the rehabilitation sessions and take into account contra indications and precautions related to diverse illness, problems and medical treatments. refer for a medical advice if needed. (DO NO HARM)
∎ Advice and train the beneficiary and the caregivers on the basic exercises that the beneficiary can do on his/her own or with/without support from caregivers on the way to prevent complication or disabling situation
∎ 2. PROVISION OF APPROPRIATE ASSISTIVE DEVICES AND REHABILITATION EQUIPMENT.
∎ Identify the beneficiary’s needs (for critical and high priority cases) in terms of assistive devices and mobility aids by seeking support from Rehabilitation Officer to ensure as per HI guidelines.
∎ Ensure that the device is adapted to user need and provide clear explanations to guarantee its safe and proper use and maintenance.
∎ Ensure a proper follow-up on the use and wean off assistive device
∎ Ensure the provision of assistive devices are made according to the strategy (quality and quantity) and the needs identified
∎ 3. ACCOUNTABILITY, REPORTING AND DOCUMENTATION
∎ Document beneficiaries care services by charting in beneficiaries and department records.
∎ Write beneficiaries case notes and reports and collect statistics.
∎ Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations; adhering to infection-control policies and protocols
∎ Update the Senior Technical Officer-Rehabilitation and rehabilitation officer on the rehabilitation activities in terms of rehabilitations gaps when necessary
∎ Ensure beneficiaries sign necessary document during donation of device and specific items.
∎ 4. INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL COORDINATION
∎ Communicate and link with other members of the mobile team, regarding internal referrals (PSS, protection, rehabilitation and social workers), to ensure comprehensive approach
∎ Coordinate with Camp Health Sector and health actors
∎ Support the Team Leader in mapping existing health services in the area
∎ Ensure external referrals and follow-up, by gathering feedback on service provided for documentation.
∎ Inform rehabilitation officer for any referral to partners.
∎ Participate in staff weekly coordination meeting.
∎ Provide necessary details and link for follow up after discharge to Rehabilitation Senior Technical Officer for follow up.
∎ Ensure good communication and maintain rapport with the beneficiaries.
∎ Support any other duties requested by the line manager.
∎ 5.CONDUCT
∎ Be caring, compassionate and maintain good communication with beneficiaries at all times
∎ Demonstrate an ethics and professional practice
∎ Respect beneficiaries’ confidentiality.
∎ Respect and promote HI’s Policies and report to your line manager any non-respect of HI’s policies amongst the teams or partners.
∎ Report any incident or act that causes any harm to beneficiary or to others.
∎ Always interact with children with the presence of their parents or caregivers
∎ Always ask permission to touch or to apply any treatment or maneuvers to someone.
∎ Always respect a refusal of treatment.
∎ Show abilities and competences to execute an efficient rehabilitation intervention

Additional Requirements:
∎ Age 25 to 60 years
∎ KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
∎ ESSENTIAL
∎ 2 years relevant experience
∎ Be Registered with the local Association
∎ DESIRABLE
∎ Previous experience with an INGO is a strong asset
∎ SKILLS REQUIRED
∎ ESSENTIAL
∎ Experience in humanitarian context, preferably in the field of rehabilitation and/or disaster risk management is preferable;
∎ Knowledge of disability and development issues in Bangladesh;
∎ Communication skills in both verbal and written Bangla is necessary
∎ DESIRABLE
∎ Strong team work approach
∎ Communication skills in both verbal and written English is preferable;
∎ Knowledge of Chittagonian and / or Rohingya languages a strong asset
∎ Knowledge in sign language is an asset
∎ Sensitized on issues related child protection, protection of gender based violence etc.

Salary: Tk. 36864 - 39339 (Monthly)
