Job Context:
∎ Under the operational supervision of the Team Leader and the technical supervision of the Technical Adviser and Senior Technical Officer, the Rehabilitation Officer provides physical and functional rehabilitation services to Rohingya communities living in camps.
∎
∎ Main internal interfaces
∎ 1. Reports to Mobile Team Leader
∎ 2. Under technical supervision of Technical Unit, primarily Rehabilitation officer,STO-Rehab and Technical advisor
∎ 3. Linking with other members of the mobile teams, particularly rehabilitation officer
∎
∎ Main external interfaces
∎ 1. Health service providers working in HI area of intervention
∎ 2. I/NGOs working in HI area of intervention
∎
Job Responsibilities:
∎ 1. Identification of beneficiaries and linkage to services
∎ Take part with other members of the mobile unit, and volunteers, to identification/mobilization exercises.
∎ Support the Team Leader in mapping the existing health services in the area
∎ Communicate and link with other members of the mobile team, regarding internal referrals (PSS, protection, rehabilitation and social workers), ensuring a comprehensive approach
∎ Ensure external referrals and follow-up, gathering feedback on service provided for documentation
∎
∎ 2. Provision of physical and functional rehabilitation
∎ Undertake rehabilitation assessment of beneficiaries, under guidance of the Senior Rehab Technical officer when necessary.
∎ According to the outcomes of the assessment of the beneficiaries' needs (taking into account her/his daily activities, the participation of her/his caregiver, etc....), develop an appropriate intervention and treament plan, under the guidance of the Senior Rehab Technical officer when necessary.
∎ Provide physical and functional rehabilitation sessions for the targeted beneficiaries based on the defined objectives between the beneficiary, the caregiver and the rehab assistant. (functional rehabilitation therapy; caregiver training on rehabilitation process, assistive device, referral linkages, case study collection); in accordance with HI guidelines on emergency rehabilitation interventions & Offer rehabilitation services
∎ Review the most recent information on the beneficiary's evolution before starting a treatment session and adapt your treatment or ask for technical advice from senior technical officer when needed
∎ Ensure the security of the beneficiary during the rehabilitation sessions and take into account contraindications and precautions related to diverse illness, problems and medical treatments.
∎ Refer to the rehabilitation officer, under the guidance of Senior Rehab Technical officer, in case of any complex case, for the assessment as well as for the implementation of treatment plan
∎ Inform the beneficiary and the caregiver of the importance of the rehabilitation to improve the physical functioning
∎ Provide assistive devices and Specific Items, ensuring that beneficiaries are trained on use, care and maintenance of assistive devices and specific items donated.
∎ Assist the team to facilitate low cost adaptation & accessible home for person with disabilities;
∎
∎ 3. Follow up, referral and linkage
∎ Closely follow-up individual and familial cases to ensure a quality follow-up of all the beneficiaries
∎ Maintain good communication and rapport with the beneficiaries.
∎ Mobilize beneficiaries identified for specialized service when necessary
∎ Properly documentation and report as required by HI and TU (including but not limited to assessment and follow-up forms)
∎ Ensure the beneficiaries sign necessary documents when item/device are provided.
∎ Work in close collaboration with volunteer, ensuring quality of service
∎ Other tasks as requested by line management and technical unit
∎
∎ 4. Conduct
∎ Be caring, compassionate and professional at all times
∎ Demonstrate an ethic and professional practice
∎ Respect beneficiary confidentiality.
∎ Respect and promote HI's Policies and report to your line manager any non-respect of HI's policies amongst the teams or partners.
∎ Address needs and requests in a professional way.
∎ Report any incident or act that causes any harm to beneficiary or to others.
∎ Always interact with children with the presence of their parents or caregivers
∎ Always ask the permission to touch or to apply any treatment or mobilizations to someone.
∎ Always respect a refusal of treatment.
∎ Work with the best of knowledge and abilities to offer a good quality rehabilitation treatment.

Non-governmental, non-religious, non-political and non-profit making, it works alongside persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups, whatever the context, offering them assistance and supporting them in their efforts to become self-reliant. Since its creation, the organisation has set up programmes in approximately 60 countries and intervened in many emergency situations. It operates as a federation made up of a network of eight associations (Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Luxembourg, Switzerland, United Kingdom, USA) which provide human and financial resources, manage projects and raise awareness of Handicap International`s actions and campaigns.
HI has been working in Bangladesh since 1997, with a focus on creating sustainable changes in terms of ensuring rights and inclusion of persons with disabilities in society. HI promotes an inclusive approach by focusing on access to services for all whenever possible rather than developing specific actions for persons with disabilities. HI works not only with persons with disabilities but also with their families, their communities, and the society. The main office is based in Dhaka, and presently there are 3 site offices in Sitakundo, Kurigram and in Cox’sbazar.
Presently HI Bangladesh is implementing projects on integrating disability in community based disaster risk reduction and response; economic empowerment of extreme poor persons with disabilities; mainstreaming disability in livelihood interventions; support to refugees and surrounding communities;, capacity building of professional associations; and support to Disabled People`s Organizations; among others.”
