Job Context:
∎ The Psychosocial Officer (PSO) will ensure provision of psycho-social support to children, women and men subject to violence and abuse, and more especially by children with disabilities. He will assist project manager to identify psychosocial training needs of the staff and volunteers and ensure their capacity development on psychosocial needs of the survivors. The PSO will also maintain collaboration and linkage among other psychosocial service, health and other legal aid service providers in the working area to leverage services for the affected people and build referral pathways. S/he will planning, implementation and monitoring and reporting of the activities to the project manager and other relevant department in HI.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Responsibility 1: Psychosocial support to beneficiaries as part of the rehabilitation and inclusion process:
∎ Support project to conduct a baseline situation analysis; ensure analysis of psychosocial and mental health issue within the baseline analysis, PSO also conduct in-depth analysis of on,
∎ Explore the causes of psychosocial stresses among the target population; at individual level, family and community level.
∎ Explore the current health seeking behaviors among people, who need psychosocial support.
∎ Explore the existing stakeholders who are providing psychosocial support; formal and informal stakeholders, including traditional healers. Analysis the support/referral mechanism.
∎ Identify population who are vulnerable to psychosocial and mental health distress. Identify individuals who need psychosocial or mental health support.
∎ Assessment of individuals that need PSS services, creating care plans, follow up sessions to ensure implementation of care plan, setting goals to better guide the individual through the services.
∎ Organize awareness and information session on psychosocial and mental health issue among vulnerable population, abuse/violence survivors and users.
∎ Conducting family and group sessions, particularly related to motivation of beneficiaries including people with disabilities for entry or continuation in employment, with regular follow up, based on a prioritization system.
∎ Ensure psychosocial support though a short-term and long-term care.
∎ Ensure compliance with HI technical quality standards, in close coordination with the Technical Unit.
∎ Responsibility 2: Cross-cutting psychosocial and mental health issue.
∎ Strengthen existing psychosocial support service mechanism; though capacity building training, regular follow-up, etc.
∎ Strengthen referral mechanism on psychosocial and mental health issue, which is suitable with local context and sustainable.
∎ When necessary training to project staff and volunteers on psychosocial and mental health issue thus they can integrate this issue within their regular work and better coordinate with Psychosocial Officer.
∎ Support project team in forming peer group, and ensuring psychosocial support.
∎ Accompany the psychosocial support receivers to access existing developmental initiatives; ensure comprehensive and inclusive services. The development services include education, livelihood activities, sports, etc.
∎ Responsibility 3: Monitoring and publication.
∎ Contribute in developing Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials and its dissemination; ensure inclusion of psychosocial issue within IEC materials for instance, child protection toolkit, documentary film, etc.
∎ Respect Donor/project communication and visibility guideline.
∎ Collect necessary data and enter into HI monitoring mechanism. Collect case stories and good practices on psychosocial issue.
∎ Responsibility 4: Networking and Representation
∎ Assist Team Leader to develop linkages and maintaining regular contact and working relation with all relevant stakeholders for referral purposes, and following through on the referral pathways.
∎ Exchange experiences and lesson learning with the network organization to better guide our service mechanism.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Age 22 to 50 years
∎ 2 years relevant experience, particularly working with people with disabilities
∎ Experience participating in training (material development, training facilitation) and on-the-job capacity building of staff and community volunteers;
∎ Experience in humanitarian context, preferably in the field of rehabilitation and/or disaster risk management is preferable;
∎ Have capacity to maintain close relationships with partners, stakeholders and clients
∎ Proven analytical and planning skills;
∎ Good oral and written communication skills in Bengali and English;
∎ Computing skills (MS office package- both in English and Bangla);
∎ Knowledge of disability and development issues in Bangladesh;
∎ Proven ability to advise on disability/vulnerability issues is desirable;
∎ Experience of working in remote community settings;
∎ Experience in contributing to data collection and indicator tracking within development projects or programs;
∎ Experience of working with INGO/NGO;

Salary: Tk. 49952 - 52922 (Monthly)
