Job Context:
∎ Job Location: Based in Cox`s Bazar, frequent travels to Kutupalong and Teknaf Refugee Camps
∎ Contract duration: Until December 2019
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Under supervision of Programme Manager and senior Protection staff, the Protection Assistant is responsible for direct implementation of the protection activities of HELVETAS/PIN Bangladesh programs in Cox's Bazar refugee camps. He/she ensures timely and quality delivery of the project activities- particularly Her Safety workshops- community-based health, safety and empowerment workshops, and other related activities of the specific projects focusing on Community-based Protection.
∎ He/she is responsible for intensive capacity building of community volunteers (ToT) in the Her Safety methodology and regular monitoring of the workshops delivered by the volunteers. He/she ensures the needed tools, materials and equipment are available for the workshops and other direct activities within the camps. He/she is directly responsible for community mobilization and identification of project beneficiaries and regular communication with wider target communities.
∎ He/she is responsible for intensive coordination and networking with relevant camp-level actors and stakeholders as well as representation of HELVETAS/PIN on camp-level meetings and working groups. He/she has a profound knowledge of overall situation in the respective camp (services, focal points, actors, referral pathways, key stakeholders) with focus on protection, and intensively maps and updates the existing service maps and contact points. He/she is co-responsible for overall protection mainstreaming within other sectors on the camp-level.
∎ He/she is responsible for regular direct monitoring of the project activities, and supports the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) officer in specific M&E tasks. He/she is responsible for selected administrative and financial tasks related to her/his role and will actively contribute to information sharing on security issues and will be compliant with all security rules

∎ Previous experience working with the refugee population in Cox's Bazar (strongly preferred)
∎ Experience with Protection programs in particular (highly desired)
∎ Proficiency in English (spoken and written) (essential)

∎ Computer skills- MS Office, Outlook (essential)
∎ High level communication and interpersonal skills (essential)
∎ Previous experience working for NGOs in similar position (desired)
∎ Knowledge on humanitarian principals and attitude to work in refugee camps (essential)
∎ Official national Bangladesh ID required, Tax Identification Number (TIN) will be required upon hiring
