  • At least 03 years of working experience in a humanitarian context at a similar level, having strong knowledge and understanding of Education in Emergencies (EiE), especially within the Rohingya camp settings in Cox’s Bazar.

Knowledge:

  • Good knowledge and understanding of Do No Harm principles, PSEA and Safeguarding and other humanitarian standards, including INEE minimum standards.

  • Good understanding of gender equality, inclusion, and accountability principles in humanitarian programming.

  • Knowledge and understanding of FIVDB’s vision, mission, and values

Responsibilities & Context:

Job Context: Friends in Village Development Bangladesh (FIVDB) is going to implement ECHO-funded under its Humanitarian Preparedness and Response Program, Cox's Bazar, in partnership with Plan International Bangladesh. The position will be recruited to implement the project based at the Field Office at Ukhia, with substantial field activities at different camps and host communities. The job is contractual for the project period.

Job Responsibilities:

The Project Organizer/Education Assistant will oversee several programme support functions in the refugee camps and host communities in Ukhiya and Teknaf. S/he will be responsible for responding to urgent and critical education programme-related needs following the influx of the Rohingya community in Bangladesh as part of the team to roll out activities focused on education. S/he will work closely with the affected communities, as part of the team, with support from the Education Officer. S/he will also be responsible to maintain effective coordination with the Coordinators, Officers and Volunteers of the project.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Support education needs assessment as needed in intervention target areas.

  • Responsible for leading and supervising the Children and Adolescent & Youth Host and Rohingya Teacher/facilitators/Volunteers, students, caregivers, and community people.

  • Highlight education-related issues requiring an immediate or medium-term response/ assigned work and inform the Education Officer(s).

  • Assist EOs in establishing CBLF and assist in recruiting potential volunteers.

  • Assist EOs to organize different project events such as awareness sessions, training, meetings, and workshops as per the project activity plan and need-based.

  • Track the progress of activities and provide regular updates to the Education Officer(s).

  • Visit programme/project sites daily to supervise and monitor educational activities in the affected communities.

  • Keep local level networks with the different stakeholders; regularly & timely participate in different training and meetings.

  • Gather and provide information for progress reports to ensure timely implementation of education-related project activities.

  • Arrange and conduct parents' meeting, parenting session, CESG meeting with the learners’ parents and community people. Ensure participants in the meetings. Ensure proper documentation.

  • Make regular and frequent visits to the facilities to monitor program activities and provide continuous support directly to the volunteers with quality checking.

  • Maintain a close connection with parents, students, other stakeholders, government officials, and other designated staff.

  • Ensure 100% attendance of the learners, volunteers and caregivers.

  • Facilitate in identifying children out of school with a plan to return to the learning centre.

  • Assist the EOs in data collection and storage, and preserve all documents and information related to the facilities and the project.

  • Prepare a monthly individual work plan and ensure proper implementation of the Project`s Monthly Action Plan. And prepare the monthly report and maintain an updated database of all learners and profiles, and support in monitoring program activities.

  • Ensure a child-friendly environment in all learning facilities by developing low-cost playing & learning materials, and engaging caregivers. Also, ensure eye-level decoration with learning materials in those facilities.

  • Support the monitoring and reporting of major concerns on education, as well as child protection concerns inside and around the learning facilities.

  • Regularly update stock register, attendance register, etc. and extend support to volunteers to update all kinds of registers.

  • Follow-up classroom facilitation by the teaching volunteers as per the approved lesson plan; provide on-the-job training to the teaching volunteers through coaching and mentoring.

  • Ensure and facilitate the timely distribution of teaching-learning, centre-based, and other required materials to the learning facilities with the help of the respective teachers.

  • Directly assist in children survey, assessment, and home visit, to identify children with disabilities, LGBTQI+ and enrol learners on the facilities.

  • Participate in different events organize by the donor and the project. Keep good teamwork with other key contact personnel in the project team.

  • S/he should abide by the Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC)’s six core principles on Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) policy. Ensure the safety of team members (in respect to Prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse - PSEA) from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the program`s goals on safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.

  • Report to the line supervisor on daily activities, photos, and reports through WhatsApp, email, etc.

  • Observe the class by following class observation tools and give regular feedback following the sandwich method.

  • Support on incentive distribution of Volunteers at the camp level.

  • Collect information by following the Kobo Toolbox, mWater and other related online/offline tools.

  • Visit home/shelter regularly to ensure absent learners’ attendance.

  • Directly support and supervise Volunteers at the camp level.

  • Have to perform any other tasks related to the project assigned by the line manager/supervisor. Response to any other assignments instructed by the office through his/her line supervisor for the well-being of the project.

Child protection, gender equality and inclusion:

Ensures that FIVDB and Plan International’s global policies for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in accordance with the principles and requirements of the policy, including relevant Implementation Standards and Guidelines as applicable to their area of responsibility. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring staff and associates are aware of and understand their responsibilities under these policies and FIVDB and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), their relevance to their area of work, and that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures.
