Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Design and implement effective youth engagement interventions.
∎ Establish and support youth clubs to create a platform for positive activities and community involvement.
∎ Collaborate with the community and local institutions to develop and maintain a library for youth.
∎ Facilitate skill development training to improve the economic prospects of youth and adolescents.
∎ Ensure youth participation in cash-for-work opportunities.
∎ Contribute to DRR initiatives by raising awareness among youth on disaster preparedness and response.
∎ Facilitate youth involvement in community-level initiatives to enhance resilience to natural disasters.
∎ Support initiatives related to plantation activities in refugee camps to address environmental degradation.
∎ Conduct awareness sessions on social issues involving youth and influential community members.
∎ Work towards mitigating tension and promoting peaceful coexistence between the host community and Rohingya refugees.
∎ Prepare reports, case studies and relevant documents. Assess and identifying risks, vulnerabilities, and gaps in existing youth engagement mechanisms through FGD, KII and survey.
∎ Conduct capacity building activities project staff and community people.
∎ Represent RDRS in coordination meetings with stakeholders.
∎ Ensure effective communication and coordination with external partners to enhance the synergy of efforts in the field. Any other responsibilities assign by the Team Leader
∎ Summary of Project:
∎ RDRS Bangladesh, in partnership with Lutheran World Federation (LWF), Geneva has been implementing an emergency response programme titled “LWF-RDRS Emergency Programme (LREP)” in Rohingya camps and nearby host communities in Cox’s Bazar district since 2019. The LREP contributes to international efforts to meet the humanitarian and protection needs and increase self-reliance and resilience of the Forcibly Displaced Myanmar Nationals (FDMNs) and host communities through Income Generating Activities (IGAs), tree plantation, life-skills with livelihoods and leadership development training. LREP also works on capacity building of youth and creates market linkage to improve their living standard. This programme also aims at cultivating social cohesion, ensuring social inclusion, promoting reforestation and providing humanitarian support (i.e., foods and non-food items, WASH, health, protection, etc.) to the FDMNs as well as the nearby host communities.
∎ Summary of Position:
∎ Under the overall responsibility and control of the Team Leader (LREP), The Project Officer (Youth Engagement) will be responsible for implementing and coordinating youth-focused initiatives within the of diverse project functions of RDRS Bangladesh. The primary responsibility will be to implement programs that address the unique challenges faced by youth and adolescents in the Rohingya camps and the host communities. The role involves collaboration with community mobilizers, volunteers, and other stakeholders to ensure effective implementation and positive outcomes. This job is contractual based.
