• Excellent skills using commonly used software MS Word, MS Excel, internet and email communication.·       
• Excellent communications skills.·        
• Works well under stress and meet deadlines·        
• Experience to drive Motorcycle and have a valid motorcycle driving license.·        
• Must have quick decision making and problem-solving capability.·        
• Candidate should have positive attitude regarding Gender/PSEA, Child Safe Guarding and Code of Conduct.·

Village Education Resource Center (VERC) is a national level voluntary organization which is registered by the NGOAB (Reg-133), Social Welfare Department Reg-Dha-02282/89 and MRA (Reg-01275-00523-00017). Village Education Resource Center (VERC) is going to implement a project titled ‘Community-Based Child Protection Mechanism for the Children of Garment Workers in Bangladesh. The project will be implemented with the support of ‘Terre des Hommes Netherlands (TdH NL). VERC is going to recruit the ‘Project Officer’ for the mentioned project and the position will be based at Kashimpur under Gazipur district.

Project Name : Community-Based Child Protection Mechanism for the children of Garment Workers in Bangladesh

Job Description/Responsibilities:

Child protection team management and programme implementation

• Support to design a project implementation plan, formulate budgetary plan, ensure timely and quality project delivery, prepare project progress reports, coordinate and manage the Child Protection related project.

• Directly manage the Community Social Workers and ECD Teachers who are responsible for children and Youth groups, awareness sessions with the parents groups and awareness raising, ensuring that they achieve their objectives and intended program results.

Facilitate establishing and managing ECD centre in the slum areas.

• Conduct performance reviews for staff; support them to set performance objectives and monitor progress.

• Provide coaching, mentoring and capacity building support to the Community Social Workers and ECD Teachers.

• Represent the organization in the community and community leaders and actors, collaborating with Government and private sectors.

• Ensure adherence to the Child Safeguarding Policy and reporting procedures.

• Strengthen Community based child protection

• Responsible for strengthening sustainable child protection through community engagement and structures.

• Lead in the establishment and running of Child Protection Forums (CPFs) and Child Protection Monitoring Committees (CPMCs) together with Community Social Worker and ECD Teacher, ensuring monthly meetings are taking place and minutes are documented.

• Manage and deliver trainings for the members of CPFs & CPMCs

• Oversee awareness raising activities, including the development of key messages, session plans and monitoring activities.

• Experienced in organizing and facilitating trainings, workshops and meetings with government officials and community peoples.

• Strengthening coordination with relevant stakeholders and Government Officials.

Supervision and management of child protection cases and relevant services

• Supervise Community Social Worker, ECD Teachers and other relevant actors on the identification, assessment, documentation, case planning, service provision and referral (to relevant services) and follow-up of at-risk children and families.

• Support to organise awareness raising activities to identified vulnerable children

• Support the development of appropriate child protection information materials.

• Support the respective project officials (Program focal of the organizational, Project Coordinator and other officials) in capacity building initiatives of Community Social Workers and ECD Teacher.

• Oversee to ensure emergency need-based support to the vulnerable children through referral.

• Share information on field-level successes and challenges with the supervisor.

• Ensure that major challenges are flagged early, and addressed in an appropriate way.

External and internal coordination and representation

• Support on and keep up-to-date a map of existing services to which children and families can be referred.

• Build collaborative relationships with organisation and service providers at the field level and support Community Social Workers and ECD Teacher to ensure effective referrals and collaboration.

• Work in close collaboration with CPMC members, Community influentials, Local Elected Bodies (LEBs), Government officials and private sectors to strengthen our relationship with the community and to strengthen the referral system.

• Ensure referral mechanisms (with other actors) are in place and cases are appropriately managed and followed up when referred

• Ensure constant and transparent communication and collaboration with relevant stakeholders, including community members, community leaders and families.

Data management and data protection principles

• Ensure that Community Social Workers and ECD Teachers respect confidentiality and follow ethical guidelines.

• Ensure that files, registers and computer databases are used in an appropriate and correct manner and ensure Community Social Worker adhere to Information Sharing and Data Protection Protocol

• Ensure accurate case files are completed and that case management forms are utilised appropriately

MEAL and Reporting

• Work closely with the monitoring and evaluation team, provide support to develop and implement appropriate monitoring, evaluation and learning systems for child protection interventions, ensure links to report requirements.

• Provide timely and quality inputs to meet reporting requirements and timeline.

• Support in preparing quality and timely reports for donors and Senior Management with relevant materials.

• Ensure case stories, good practices are captured with high quality photographs, documented and disseminated at project level and thematic programme level.

• Provide timely and quality inputs on cross cutting issues (CCIs)Prepare monthly, quarterly, half yearly and annual reports.

Others: Be able and willing to respond to natural disasters or emergency situations, when needed and any other task assigned by Supervisor and /or Senior Management of VERC.

Taka 39,000 - 40,000 and Others facilities will be applicable also based on available the project budget.
