Job Context:
∎ Handicap International is seeking Candidates for the position of Project Officer- Rehabilitation for the project entitled Growing Together (GT) with the objective to engage children in promoting disability inclusion and a culture of safety through creative ways and build capacities of childcare service providers to be more responsive of their specific needs. The project will provide quality skills training and awareness to parents/caregivers of vulnerable children, local service providers, INGOs, Community-Based Organizations and Camp Committees in order to children with disabilities and vulnerable children`s lives opportunities and to foster social links and cohesion among communities in a sustainable and resilient way.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ REHABILITATION SERVICE PROVISION
∎ Identification of children with disabilities, conduct personalized rehabilitation assessments and create database for target beneficiaries, including rehabilitation plans and regular updates to plans.
∎ Identify relevant service providers for referral linkages and refer children with disabilities to the appropriate services.
∎ Provide comprehensive rehabilitation service to the target beneficiaries (functional rehabilitation therapy, caregiver training on home-based rehabilitation) and ensure regular follow-up, based on a prioritization system, to beneficiaries homes, education institutes and work places
∎ Support for provision of rehabilitation services and customised assistive devices to vulnerable children with disabilities through needs assessment, measurement and technical assistance related to production & repair with good quality, supporting procurement processes, orientation on use of assistive device (AD), mobilizing community resources for production of AD and local artisans.
∎ Support accessibility assessment, adaptations and innovative systems to address the identified barriers and to promote safety, inclusion and equal participation
∎ In collaboration with Accessibility Manager, identify beneficiaries with needs for household/workplace/service providers accessibility or adaptations and facilitate to ensure accessibility process, through the provision of technical support
∎ Priorities interventions for children with severe disabilities including mental illness, intellectual disabilities and multiple disabilities
∎ Document progress on rehabilitation of all beneficiaries in working area is regularly documented
∎ Ensure quality of rehabilitation services in line with HI technical quality standards
∎ CAPACITY BUILDING OF COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS/ CAREGIVERS/ PARENTS/ SERVICE PROVIDERS:
∎ Community volunteers: Capacity building of community volunteers on theoretical knowledge and practical skills related to rehabilitation for children with disabilities, accessibility (physical, social and institutional), training of community volunteers on early childhood development, child-centred approach stimulation and learning by play
∎ Capacity building of parents and caregivers on child development/ hygiene, health and referrals to specialist services / adapting protective measures/ basic rehabilitation through play / household-level disaster risk reduction planning
∎ Trained childcare workers from other organization working on rehabilitation, health, nutrition, social, education, sports, pre-school service providers, camp committees and CBOs on early identification and referrals of children with disabilities
∎ Contribution to annual appraisals of community volunteers
∎ CONTRIBUTE TO THE MONITORING, DATA COLLECTION AND DOCUMENTATION PROCESSES OF THE PROJECT:
∎ Participate in baseline assessment and endline assessment of the project
∎ Contribute to development of indicator for child-centered change monitoring systems to document evidence of changes achieved by children.
∎ Collection of case studies to document progress of targeted children with disabilities
∎ Participation in project team meetings and project review processes
∎ Documentation and record rehabilitation services provided to beneficiaries to that allows tracking of indicators Implement PSEA and CPP policy across the project area.
