Responsibilities & Context:
∎ JAAGO is seeking a dynamic Project Officer for the "Youth4Climate” initiative, who will be an integral part of JAAGO Foundation Trust’s mission to address climate change challenges in the vulnerable coastal region of Khulna, with a specific focus on Kamarkhola Union in Dacope Upazila in Khulna. This one-year project aims to empower women and youth through innovative climate-smart agriculture technology, improved cooking stoves, and community sensitization. The project officer will be responsible for executing, documenting, and reporting on all project activities, with a critical emphasis on conducting training and workshops for community members. Job Responsibilities:
∎ Project Implementation:
∎ Execute the project activities outlined in the proposal, with a focus on climate-smart agriculture technology, homestead gardening, and improved cooking stove distribution.
∎ Collaborate with the local community people (women), expert trainers, and youth leaders to ensure the successful implementation of capacity-building sessions and model farm demonstrations.
∎ Oversee the distribution of flood and salinity-tolerant seeds, saplings, and Improved Cooking Stoves (ICS) to community members.
∎ Community Awareness and Sensitization:
∎ Organize and conduct awareness-raising sessions, courtyard meetings, theatre shows, and social media posts on the socio-cultural effects of climate change, child marriage, gender-based violence, sanitation, hygiene, and waste management.
∎ Engage youth volunteers in conducting these sessions and events to reach a wide audience.
∎ Market Linkage and Entrepreneurship:
∎ Facilitate workshops to establish market linkages between women and youth participants and local wholesalers for their climate-adaptive crops.
∎ Coordinate a linkage development workshop between entrepreneurs of Improved Cooking Stoves (ICS) and community members who received ICS.
∎ Documentation and Reporting:
∎ Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation of all project activities, including training sessions, distributions, and awareness events.
∎ Prepare regular progress reports, ensuring timely submission to internal and external stakeholders.
∎ Facilitate the end-line survey and participate in the closing ceremony to discuss project impacts with stakeholders.
∎ Monitoring and Evaluation:
∎ Implement monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to assess the effectiveness and impact of the project.
∎ Collect data for the end-line survey and use findings to inform future project strategies.
