Job Context:
∎ Welthungerhilfe is one of the largest private aid agencies in Germany; politically and religiously independent. The organisation fights for "Zero Hunger by 2030". Since being founded in 1962, it has provided funding of EUR 4.46 billion for more than 10,895 overseas projects in 70 countries.
∎ In 2021 alone, Welthungerhilfe supported about 16.6 million people with its 526 overseas projects in 36 countries. In real terms, that means: Many people now harvest more and can therefore improve their diets. They now have clean drinking water or toilets at home, which leaves them less susceptible to illness. Others are earning or producing more and can begin an education. For the children, Welthungerhilfe`s support means a chance of improved physical and mental development.
∎ Welthungerhilfe bases its efforts on the principle of help for self-help, which it implements with measures ranging from rapid disaster relief to rehabilitation to long-term development cooperation projects with national and international partner organisations.
∎ In Bangladesh, Welthungerhilfe supports vulnerable communities through projects on agriculture, nutrition, WASH, economic development, and social cohesion as part of its emergency and development programming. Currently, Welthungerhilfe operates through its country office in Dhaka, as well as a field office in Cox`s Bazar.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Objective
∎ To lead on the communications and visibility work streams and ensure effective and timely completion of activities, delivery of quality outputs and achievement of outcomes with maximum impact and in compliance with Welthungerhilfe and donor requirements. This will be done by contributing to external communications and visibility, supporting internal and external coordination on communications-related issues, aiding project-related tasks and activities as required, and supporting project documentation and compliance.
∎ Functions
∎ External Communications (80%)
∎ Take a leading role in supporting all country teams and implementing partners with visibility, branding and communications;
∎ Develop and operationalise a clear branding & messaging strategy;
∎ Ensure the rigorous implementation of the programme's communications strategy and conduct capacity-building sessions on communication strategy and visibility with the teams, partners, and consultants;
∎ Regularly collect, draft and prepare visual communications materials, social media updates, success stories, photo stories and other project visibility actions; and draft social media posts, articles and reports on at least a weekly basis, in line with Welthungerhilfe and donor guidelines;
∎ Support the formatting, translation and editing of reports, presentations and documents for publishing to a high professional standard;
∎ Design visibility materials including posters, flyers, banners as requested and check the quality of visibility materials developed by partners;
∎ Support the organisation of external events through preparing participant lists, agendas and invitations; and support the implementation of events through ensuring that visibility requirements are met, taking photos etc.;
∎ Liaise with Welthungerhilfe's communication teams in Germany, India and Nepal frequently and provide case studies, success stories, and materials that can be used for fundraising;
∎ Project Documenting and Compliance (10%)
∎ Ensure records and documents, in particular all visual materials, photos, are adequately prepared, compiled and filed according to Welthungerhilfe procedures and donor specific procedures;
∎ Perform document translation, editing and proofreading as required.
∎ Liaise with Finance, Logistics, Administration, Transparency and Security departments to help ensure project compliance with Welthungerhilfe's procedures and donor requirements.
∎ Internal Coordination (10%)
∎ Organise, prepare agendas and take minutes for internal project coordination meetings where needed;
∎ File and index internal coordination documents (minutes, emails, reports)
∎ Participate in other internal coordination meetings as required.
∎ Attend and provide assistance to field missions, monitoring visits and external events with the project team as requested.
∎ Provide proactive support to the project team in all activities and procedures.
Additional Requirements:
∎ At least three years of working experience in communications, marketing, public relations, advocacy, events management; or social media management;
∎ Strong understanding of key instruments of successful communications planning to establish a positive image and show the impacts of WHH projects targeting a diverse range of audiences;
∎ A strong understanding of the mandate, approach, financing and objectives of non-governmental organisations, and the specific communication needs, challenges and risks;
∎ High level of flexibility and excellent prioritisation skills; as well as the ability to adjust to tight deadlines while maintaining high quality standards;
∎ Experience in supporting senior stakeholders; and the ability to communicate maintaining the highest standards of credibility, discretion, tact and diplomacy;
∎ Exceptional written and verbal communications skills in English, with an high attention to small details and the ability to communicate in a non-technical way;
∎ Strong skills in social media management;
∎ Strong skills in text/graphic design and photo editing;
∎ Willingness to travel to the field frequently (including to remote locations).
∎ Desirable skills:
∎ Previous experience with BMZ, GFFO, FCDO or EU-funded projects is considered a strong asset;
∎ At least basic skills in video editing.
∎ Qualified women are strongly encouraged to apply.
