  • At least 5 years’ experience in private sector/corporate engagement, partnerships / CSR, resource mobilization

  • Strong background in dealing with private sector organizations acquired in reputed corporations, financial institutions, foundations and business associations for social impact

  • Working experience in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs, marketing, branding will be an added advantage.

  • Outstanding knowledge of Bangladesh’s corporate sector and its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in professional settings

  • Ability to develop proposals, concept notes and deliver persuasive presentations and pitches

  • Strong networking, interpersonal and negotiation skills to engage senior executives, boards and diverse stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to identify, initiate, and manage value‑driven partnerships with private sector actors aligned to development outcomes

  • Proven capacity to mobilize private sector resources, including CSR funding, blended finance and in‑kind contributions

  • Understanding of local private sector ecosystems and development challenges

  • Experience in supporting the implementation of gender and social dimension intervention and gender mainstreaming in projects is a plus.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities under pressure.



Responsibilities & Context:

The Private Sector Engagement Manager (PSEM) will provide strategic leadership in advancing private sector engagement under the MCGL program, with the goal of strengthening health system responses for Maternal, Newborn, Child Health and Nutrition (MNCHN). The position will be responsible for operationalizing the program’s private sector engagement strategy and cultivating sustainable partnerships that enhance the availability, affordability and quality of MNCHN services.

The PSEM will facilitate market linkages between private providers and MNCHN services, mobilize corporate social responsibility (CSR) and co‑investment resources to support critical stop‑gap interventions within the public health system, and promote innovative financing solutions. One of the major functions of the role will be to advocate for improved access to financing for MNCHN through strategic collaboration with financial institutions, pharmaceutical companies, Lions and Rotary Clubs and other national and international private sector actors. 

Working in close coordination with technical and program teams, the PSEM will ensure the effective implementation of private sector engagement initiatives in line with donor requirements, organizational policies and established compliance standards. This is a results‑oriented position with an initial six‑month contract, designed to accelerate co‑investment and resource mobilization objectives of the project. Subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability, the contract may be extended.

Contract duration: Till September 2026, with high possibility of further extension

Responsibilities

  • Lead the formulation and/or refinement of private sector engagement strategies for the MCGL project and develop outcome‑oriented action plans that clearly guide the mobilization of financial resources, technical expertise and in‑kind support from private sector organizations and associations.

  • Identify strategic partnerships using the mapped database of private sector actors at national and sub‑national levels, including businesses and industry associations to leverage private sector resources and market solutions that strengthen the quality and reach of MNCHN services for mothers, newborns, and children under five.

  • Establish and sustain partnerships with private companies, industry bodies, banks, non‑banking financial institutions (NBFIs), microfinance institutions (MFIs) and CSR platforms to mobilize grants, cash contributions, business inputs and in‑kind support (such as goods, materials, equipment, referral transportation and logistics services) for project beneficiaries.

  • Identify opportunities for collaboration, research companies, build personal connections before business discussions

  • Provide programmatic coordination and technical oversight for the implementation of all private sector engagement activities, ensuring quality delivery, timely execution and effective integration with approved work plans and project components.

  • Identify and engage potential investors and co‑investors at national and local levels, including SMEs, banks, MFIs, CSR platforms and business groups to support life‑saving initiatives through the facilitation of co‑investment arrangements and the negotiation of practical and mutually beneficial risk‑sharing models.

  • Assess existing and emerging economic empowerment models within the local context and design, pilot and evaluate strategies to adapt and implement these models to support sustainable outcomes for beneficiaries.

  • Plan and organize national and sub‑national events, seminars, and workshops to sensitize private sector stakeholders, disseminate knowledge and lessons learned, and mobilize financial and technical resources to strengthen the economic well‑being of program beneficiaries.

  • Support capacity development of sub‑partner staff to ensure effective implementation and management of co‑investment processes under the program.

  • Represent the MCGL program in meetings, dialogues and forums with private sector companies, business associations and industry platforms to strengthen visibility, partnerships and collaboration.

  • Monitor, document, and analyze the results of private sector engagement interventions, contributing to M&E systems and donor reporting by highlighting good practices, lessons learned, challenges and strategic recommendations.

  • Collaborate closely with other program components and the Country Program team to support the achievement of project outputs and ensure alignment across thematic areas.

  • Any other job related to the function will be allocated as and when required by the Supervisor. This position may require field visits to the project implementing areas.
