Requirements:
Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Prepare and process customs declarations for import and export shipments.
∎ Ensure all required documents (Bill of Entry, Bill of Lading, Commercial Invoice, Packing List, Certificate of Origin, etc.) are accurate and submitted on time.
∎ Liaise with customs brokers, clearing agents, and freight forwarders to expedite clearance procedures.
∎ Verify HS codes, product descriptions, and valuation methods to ensure proper classification of goods.
∎ Ensure compliance with Bangladesh Customs regulations, duty structures, and taxation policies.
∎ Stay updated with changes in trade policies, duty exemptions, and government incentives applicable to the RMG sector.
∎ Handle bonded warehouse licensing, renewals, and utilization tracking as per the National Board of Revenue (NBR) guidelines.
∎ Assist in resolving any customs disputes, audits, or inspections by government authorities.
∎ Work closely with the logistics, procurement, and production teams to align customs procedures with shipment schedules.
∎ Coordinate with transporters and port authorities for the smooth movement of goods from ports to factories or warehouses.
∎ Track shipment status and ensure timely delivery while minimizing demurrage and detention charges.
∎ Calculate customs duties, taxes, and VAT applicable to shipments and ensure correct payments are made.
∎ Identify opportunities for duty drawbacks, exemptions, and free trade agreements (FTAs) that reduce costs.
∎ Monitor and control costs related to customs clearance to avoid unnecessary penalties or surcharges.
∎ Maintain proper records of customs transactions for audit and verification purposes.
∎ Assist in internal and external audits related to customs and import/export documentation.
∎ Respond to queries from customs authorities and resolve discrepancies or disputes.
