• Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Occupational Therapy
• Master of Science (MSc) in Occupational Therapy

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from a recognized institution.

• At least 2 years

• Minimum 02 years of relevant experience, preferably in pediatric settings or special education/rehabilitation centers.
• Sound knowledge of sensory integration therapy, motor skill development, and pediatric assessments.
• Ability to develop and implement child-centered, goal-oriented therapy plans.
• Strong documentation, reporting, and communication skills.
• Compassionate approach, with sensitivity to working with children with special needs and their families.
• Proficiency in using therapeutic tools, assistive devices, and basic computer applications.
• Team-oriented mindset with a commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration.

Society for Assistance to Hearing Impaired Children (SAHIC) is a voluntary non-government organization established in February 1987 and registered with the Department of Social Services, Directorate General of Social Welfare, and NGO Affairs Bureau, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, with the aim and objectives of prevention, early detection, and rehabilitation of hearing impaired children, along with treatment of general people's ear, nose, and throat diseases.

About the role:

The Occupational Therapist will be responsible for assessing and addressing the developmental, physical, sensory, and motor skills of children with hearing impairments or other disabilities at SAHIC. The role involves designing and delivering individualized therapy plans to improve functional abilities and promote independence in daily activities. The therapist will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including audiologists, speech therapists, educators, and caregivers, to support the holistic development and integration of children.

Brief description of key responsibilities:

• Assess physical, sensory, emotional, and cognitive development needs of children through standardized tools and clinical observation.
• Develop individualized treatment plans focused on improving fine motor skills, coordination, self-care, and daily living activities.
• Provide therapeutic interventions to children with developmental delays, motor coordination disorders, or sensory processing challenges.
• Collaborate with families and caregivers to integrate therapeutic strategies into home and school environments.
• Monitor progress, revise goals, and document therapy outcomes regularly.
• Coordinate with audiologists, speech therapists, physicians, and educators for multidisciplinary care planning.
• Train parents, teachers, and support staff on therapeutic techniques and tools to promote child development.
• Recommend adaptive equipment, assistive technology, or modifications for improved daily functioning.
• Participate in awareness campaigns, early intervention programs, and outreach activities as needed.
• Perform any other relevant tasks as assigned by SAHIC management.
