The Nutritionist is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and monitoring individualized nutrition care plans for admitted (indoor) patients. The role ensures that patients receive appropriate nutritional support according to their medical condition, treatment plan, and dietary requirements while maintaining compliance with hospital policies and quality standards.
Conduct nutritional screening and assessment of indoor patients upon admission and throughout hospitalization.
Develop individualized nutrition care plans based on medical diagnosis, nutritional status, laboratory findings, and physician recommendations.
Calculate nutritional requirements and prescribe therapeutic diets as per hospital protocols.
Monitor patient nutritional progress and modify diet plans accordingly.
Provide enteral feeding recommendations and monitor tolerance and effectiveness.
Participate in multidisciplinary patient care rounds when required.
Educate patients and family members regarding disease-specific diets and nutritional management.
Provide discharge dietary counseling and follow-up recommendations.
Prepare educational materials related to nutrition and healthy eating practices.
Coordinate with nursing staff, physicians, and food service personnel to ensure accurate diet implementation.
Maintain food quality align with hospital Kitchen.
Verify and monitor diet orders for indoor patients.
Ensure timely communication of diet modifications and special nutritional requirements.
Monitor meal acceptance and address patient dietary concerns.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of nutrition assessments, interventions, and follow-up notes in patient records.
Prepare nutrition-related reports and departmental statistics as required.
Ensure compliance with documentation standards, accreditation requirements, and hospital policies.
Follow evidence-based nutrition practices and clinical guidelines.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives, audits, and departmental meetings.
Maintain infection prevention and patient safety standards.
Support hospital accreditation and regulatory compliance activities.
Stay updated on advances in clinical nutrition and dietetics.
Participate in training programs, workshops, and continuing professional education activities.
Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition & Food Science, Dietetics, Clinical Nutrition, or related discipline.
Master's Degree in Nutrition/Dietetics will be preferred.
Minimum 2–5 years of experience in a hospital dietetics department.
Experience in managing indoor/inpatient nutrition services is preferred.
Strong knowledge of clinical nutrition and therapeutic diets.
Knowledge of enteral and parenteral nutrition principles.
Excellent patient counseling and communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Strong documentation and reporting skills.
Proficiency in MS Office and Hospital Information Systems (HIS).
